(B) is correct IMO

A. The first forms an inference; the second provides support for that inference.
First is not an inference

B. The first is a condition; the second is a premise limited by the first
All good- Hold

C. The first is a premise; the second is a result of the fulfillment of the action.
Action is not very clear-Reject

D. The first is an opinion; the second is a premise that supports this opinion.
First is not an opinion

E. The first concludes the argument; the second provides a condition for this conclusion.
First is not a conclusion

In the orienteering game of Tripletrax, points are scored when team A succeeds in locating the position of team B in a given amount of time. If team A successfully avoids all the traps set by team B, and uses less than 50% of the time given, a maximum score of 500 points is rewarded.

In the argument given, the two portions in boldface play which of the following roles?

A. The first forms an inference; the second provides support for that inference. Incorrect

first is not an inference

B. The first is a condition; the second is a premise limited by the first Correct

if first happen, than second happen;
if first is not happen than second will not happen; so second is limited by first

C. The first is a premise; the second is a result of the fulfillment of the action. Incorrect

first is not a premises

D. The first is an opinion; the second is a premise that supports this opinion. Incorrect

first is not an opinion

E. The first concludes the argument; the second provides a condition for this conclusion. Incorrect

first is not a conclusion

First bold part: condition
Second bold part: result

A. first is inference (incorrect - it does not infer from anything)
B. first is condition, second is premise limited by the first
C. first is premise, second is result from fulfillment of action
D. first is opinion (incorrect - it does not say opinion)
E. first concludes argument (incorrect - first is not conclusion)

B. First is condition looks good, second is premise limited by condition (is there conclusion?)
C. First is premise (is there conclusion)
Actually, first sentence is the conclusion. And second sentence is a special condition that supports the first. Hence, the premise should be the second one. Ans = B

In the argument given, the two portions in boldface play which of the following roles?

A. The first forms an inference; the second provides support for that inference. -> BF1 is not an inference. Incorrect.

B. The first is a condition; the second is a premise limited by the first -> BF1 is a condition. and second is limited by BF1. Let's keep it.

C. The first is a premise; the second is a result of the fulfillment of the action. -> BF1 is not a premise. Incorrect.

D. The first is an opinion; the second is a premise that supports this opinion. -> BF1 is not an opinion. Incorrect.

E. The first concludes the argument; the second provides a condition for this conclusion. -> Incorrect.

So, I think B. :)

The fight is between B and C -

B. The first is a condition; the second is a premise limited by the first - The First is sure shot a condition .. since the bold face starts with If , but the second is not just limited by the first ! there is and which means both conditions need to be satisfied.

C. The first is a premise; the second is a result of the fulfillment of the action.= Because of the error in B i was tempted to go for C , however the second part of C is also not that clear since we have two Actions which need to be fulfilled simultaneously for 2nd Bolf Face, hence i went with B since i was clear that the first part is a condition.

Wow nice game, Although I couldn't understand how exactly it's played, Let's up into POE.

A. The first forms an inference; the second provides support for that inference. Not an inference

B. The first is a condition; the second is a premise limited by the first Yeah true.

C. The first is a premise; the second is a result of the fulfillment of the action. Yeah it's a premise and but B is better than C

D. The first is an opinion; the second is a premise that supports this opinion. First is not an opinion

E. The first concludes the argument; the second provides a condition for this conclusion. First is not a conclusion.

The stem here is plainly not an "argument", so it has no premises. The stem just explains one of the rules of a particular game. So there's no correct answer here. The only answer choice that correctly describes the first bolded part is answer B (that bolded part begins with "if", so it's a "condition") but no answer choice describes the second bolded portion correctly.
