In the orienteering game of Tripletrax, points are scored when team A succeeds in locating the position of team B in a given amount of time.
If team A successfully avoids all the traps set by team B, and uses less than 50% of the time given,
a maximum score of 500 points is rewarded. In the argument given, the two portions in boldface play which of the following roles?
A. The first
forms an inference; the second provides support for that inference.
B. The first is a condition; the second is a premise limited by the first
C. The first is a premise; the second is a result of the fulfillment of the action.
D.
The first is an opinion; the second is a premise that supports
this opinion.E.
The first concludes the argument; t
he second provides a condition for this conclusion.A , D and E can be rejected very quickly.
B and C can be argued.
I rejected B for 2 reasons:
1. 2nd is not just limited by first . what if the time taken is more than 50% of time then even 1st bold statement hold true , still 2nd bold statement won't stand.
2. favours C because 1st can be treated as premise and 2nd is more of a result for action ( 1. first bold statementb and time taken less than 50%)
Hence I select B
