Navigating a crisis that required skillful handling, not only did diplomats negotiate a workable truce, it was done simultaneously while avoiding being attacked by rival politicians in their home countries.

To match with the modifier "Navigating a crisis that required skillful handling" , the subject should be diplomats and correct parallelism should be used.

A. not only did diplomats negotiate a workable truce, it was done simultaneously while avoiding
B. not only was a workable truce negotiated by diplomats but they, also simultaneously avoided
C. a workable truce was negotiated by diplomats who also avoided simultaneously
D. diplomats negotiated a workable truce, simultaneously while avoiding
