Hi guys, congratulations to the R3 admitted students!
Regarding scholarships they don't announce any during acceptance calls, you have to apply to them, as far as I know.
Maybe I'm wrong but I haven't heard of anyone being granted a scholarship without applying to one.

Ding here. Since I was not interviewed, this was more than expected. Congrats to all admitted friends, and best of luck to all waitlisters. I'm the same boat, but for a different school.

Ding for me. 0 for 3 on my applications. I guess it's not worth applying for full-time MBA if you're 30 or older, unless you're military or other extenuating circumstance. Not even a 770 GMAT and 3.8GPA in Engineering can overcome the age issue.

Kip: I don't think this is the case at every school. I believe it is more true at HBS, Stanford and maybe Haas. Consider trying for Tuck, Yale or LBS in the future.

I understand your frustration, my friend. But I disagree with you when it comes to not being worth applying to full-time MBA's in your 30's. You've appiled to 3 of the most selective schools in the world. A 770 GMAT and good GPA will help you, but won't close the deal. Keep in mind there are lots of people with great stats. Probably there is room for improvement in other areas of your application, who knows?
And also, there are other programs in which you would be more competitive, for sure. I know most people have the H/S dream, but lots of other programs would help you achieve your goals. Keep in mind that an MBA is a mean to an end, no the end itself.
We have lots of over-30 folks around here going to amazing schools!

I have to say I agree with BizWiz. While I also heard all the scary rumors that if you're over 30 don't even bother applying, I am 34 and have gotten accepted to two great schools for this fall (and still hoping for a 3rd!). But BizWiz is right on that good stats help, but aren't everything. I'm sure it's got to hurt, no doubt, and I'm sorry for your frustration. If you still want to go back next year, it could be worth asking the schools you applied to for feedback; in fact, I believe that Haas is one of the schools that actively offers to give feedback to applicants after the application season is over. Who knows, it could be simply that you had great goals but didn't clarify them well enough in an essay; or they wanted to see a little more volunteering work, or who knows. Don't give up if this is really what you want! I recommend reading the blog mbaover30.com: it helped keep me sane when I began to doubt that anyone would accept me because of my age, either!
