Hey everyone! Hope all of the application prep is going well and that you're feeling great about your decision to go to B-School!

I just wanted to let you all know that I am a current 1st year student at the Wisconsin School of Business, and I am here to help you or answer whatever questions you may have. I know there is an overload of info you have to weigh to make the right decision for yourself, believe me I remember being in your shoes not too long ago, but hopefully I can help you or at least speak to things you are wondering about as far as the Madison MBA program is concerned. I love it here and am SO glad that I chose Wisconsin!

Anyway, feel free to reach out at any time, and good luck!

Hi, Inertia808, thanks a lot for your post here. It will help us a lot to get connected with current students. I will apply Wisconsin 2016 MBA focusing on Supply Chain Management, and it is highly appreciated that you can help me to answer two questions as below:

1. Will the study or work experience in SCM before MBA be required or compulsory? I does not have work exp in SCM currently, but intend to do a career switch via MBA. I work as a marketing staff in B2B business, and usually my counterparts are the procurement team of clients. I know the procurement process well, but I did not work in that position.

2. How about the connections between UW-Madison and big companies especially manufactures in Midwest? Will they go to campus for recruit frequently?

Look forward to hear from you.~ Have a nice day!

Hey oliverlok, thanks for the questions! Hopefully I can help:

1. In short, no. We actually have quite a few "career switchers" in the program right now, that's the reason a lot of people go back to school. Sounds like you are in that boat as well. Even without direct work experience in SCM, if you demonstrate a passion and appreciation for it, that can be enough. It would also be helpful to leverage any previous work experience and try to pick out transferable skills to speak to during interviews. The fact that you've at least had professional exposure to SCM though is helpful.

2. One of the main reasons I chose the Wisconsin School of Business is because of the connections to amazing companies. In the last month, I've had conversations on campus and at other events with 3M, Intuit, Kimberly-Clark, SC Johnson, Kraft/Oscar-Mayer, General Mills, Proctor & Gamble, Dish Network, Target, and many others. Like you, I'm interested in a Midwest company, and no other program that I've seen has the connections like Wisconsin.

Hopefully that helps, please continue to reach out with additional questions. I'll be here!

Even I am in the same boat. Any clues around what the interview might be all about will be helpful especially if the interview is different from the one's of other colleges.
