Debrief time! I had my interview recently with an adcom member in Los Angeles. The interviewer hadn't read my essays and only had my resume. It was a comfortable conversation with pretty standard questions and shouldn't be difficult at all if you know your story and have done plenty of introspection on your strengths and weaknesses. Take time to also reflect on your previous performance reviews by your supervisors. Only one question made me pause and think for a couple seconds: If you could go back in time and do things differently, what would you change?

Do people who have been invited to interviews stand a good chance of being admitted? How much weight does the interview carry?
I think it is a step-wise process. If you have been invited to interview, that means they liked you on paper. Now they want to see the real you. They want to gauge how true you are to what you have expressed in words. Interview is pretty important, however the yield in interview is much lower than the yield in getting an interview call.

I have browsed through previous years' discussion threads and heard many people say that most applicants in the Priority rounds got interview invitations. So they thought getting an invitation is just part of the whole process and doesn't necessarily mean the Adcom like you. I wonder how much truth this opinion holds.

I got some info from the adcom. Thought I would share it. Re applicants who were interviewed last time may not be called for an interview if the interview was good. And interview invites go out till February end. Since Brad is completing his tour this week, they may send out Skype interview invites for late interviewees.
