Congratulations to every one on their admits! and best wishes to those waiting on theirs.
I am planning on applying for B-Schools next year and Tepper is obviously there in my shortlist. I just have a couple of questions regarding the college graduates and recruitment and I'm not sure where to raise them. If you could help out would it be awesome!
-Which companies recruit in Tepper for Technology Consulting positions and what are the salaries they offer?
-How flexible is the recruiters outlook? Can I shift from Technology consulting to roles in MC, Marketing Management, Business Strategy Consulting based on courses I take or clubs I participate in (As i do not have prior expertise in such domains) ?
-Do the recruiters eye the graduates as future leaders? Do any companies hire candidates for leadership roles or for their in house leadership training program etc ?
Thanks in advance
I'll take a stab at this, though I'm not a current student so I'm probably not the best person to answer your questions.
- Here is a list of companies that recruit at Tepper:
https://tepper.cmu.edu/recruiters-and-co ... g-partners . I can't speak to the salaries, but my guess would be somewhere around $120k (the mean for Tepper is $110k. Add $10k because it is consulting. You could expect a bit more if you did MC). My understanding of the big consulting companies like Deloitte is that you apply to work for the general company and get assigned to a focus area only after being hired. I'm sure there are exceptions to this though.
- Very flexible. The MBA can be used to switch careers, so you will have a lot of options available to you. The key is to land an internship in the area that you hope to work. Membership in certain clubs can definitely help you land those internships.
- I think you are absolutely expected to be a future leader of the company (that's a big reason for getting your MBA) and you could expect to land an in house leadership training program role if you wanted one (though I usually think of these as programs for undergrads instead of grad students. However, I'm sure they exist for both).
Hope this helped at least a little bit. Good luck next year!
It definitely helped me out. Are you aware of any other resources from where I could gather the numbers? Ross has the emails of the students currently pursuing their MBA and they gave me a really clear picture. Similarly, I would love to connect with the students in Tepper too. Do you know how I could do that?
