Hi Experts

I am Sunny, I need your expert guidance to plan my MBA applications. Please find the details on my profile:

Academics:

GPA: 70% | B.Tech: Computer Science | 2007 - 2011

GPA: 2.5/4 | M.B.A: Marketing | 2013-2015

GMAT 1 [Yr: 2013] : 530 [Q 37, V 26]
GMAT 2 [Yr: 2017] : 760 [Q 51, V 41]

Work Experience:
W1 - Jan 2010 - Aug 2011 - Co-Founder
* Co-founder of a funded startup with International clientele
* Key focus area: Product development, Sales, Operations
* Exited the company as the product was way ahead of its time for Indian Market

W2 - Sep 2011 - May 2013 - Software Engineer
* Worked as a Software Engineer at Infosys & led a 3 member team

W3 - Mar 2015 - May 2017 - Marketing Head
* Joined as Marketing Head at Seed Funded startup, launched & scaled the product & services to 4 cities & reached profitability within 3 months of operations
* Represented a PNL of business vertical. Led a 9 member team spread across 4 cities
* Conceptualized & established our startup as a premium brand. Created & executed marketing campaigns
* Built & scaled Asset Monetization model
* Exited the company due to limited professional growth
* Reported to the CEO

W4 - May 2017 - Present - Independent Consultant
* Consulting multiple startups, helping them with their product launch
* Key focus area: Brand Marketing, Performance Marketing, Campaign Management, Product Launch
* Report to the CEO

Co-Curricular:

BTech:
* OSUM (Sun Microsystem) Leader - Organized multiple activities & competitions

MBA:
* Head of Entrepreneurship Cell, organized multiple activities & competitions
* Single handedly organized an event, as part of a project. Generated enough profit to cover my tuition fee

Job:
Worked with a NGO for almost 2 years.

Why low GPA?
I believe the best way to learn things is to implement what you have learned so far. That being said, staying in the top quartile was never my game thus low GPAs. To cover up my Low GPA gap I have worked on the GMAT.

Why second MBA?
As I have been consulting startups for almost a quarter, I know now that consulting is what I want to do in the long run. I believe with my second MBA, I will be able to make the much needed jump. My focus area is Strategy.

Target B-School:

1. Insead
2. Wharton
3. Judge
4. NYU Stern
5. ISB

Questions:

1. What are my chances of getting in the targetted B-School? My dream is to get into Insead.

2. Since I am a Independent Consultant, whom do you think will be the right person for LOR?

3. Should I mention my start exp, W1, as a full-time exp or not? NOTE: I was earning at that point

4. Acads & Independent Consultant, can these 2 factors weigh me down?

Please let me know if you need anyother information.

Far from an expert, but I think you are going to face an uphill struggle here, despite the 760. Nothing really stands out as impressive other than your Gmat and there are a lot of things you will need to successfully address with your app. I think you are a prime case for working with a consultant, you are going to need a very cohesive and convincing application to break into one of those schools.

You will have a difficult chance...you have a great GMAT but low academics, career story, and 2nd MBA coming from a competitive demo make your candidacy challenging, not impossible just challenging

2. Since I am a Independent Consultant, whom do you think will be the right person for LOR?
One of your current clients or past supervisors

Was it FT and you were earning money then yes

4. Acads & Independent Consultant, can these 2 factors weigh me down?
Yes, they can both, UG GPA and work experience are key factors, so you will need to address both these factors. Your high GMAT helps on the GPA front, the work experience is still a work in progress for you

VeritasPrepDozie Thanks for the prompt reply. Understand that low acads coupled with workex is kind of a bummer. Could you please suggest what would be the best option, apply this season or skip this season & work on experience to make overall profile much better.

Do you think you can reasonably improve your work experience in a year, if so then maybe you take a year to improve your work experience. If you think this will be hard for you then maybe just take a shot at a few schools, also consider some schools a little bit less competitive if you want to maximize your chances
