A company offered a training program to all of its 120 employees. How many employees completed the training?

(1) Of all employees, 30 percent completed more than half of the training.

(2) Of all employees, 30 percent of those who began the training completed it.

Given: A company offered a training program to all of its 120 employees.

Asked: How many employees completed the training?

(1) Of all employees, 30 percent completed more than half of the training.
30% * 120 = 36 employees completed more than half of the training.
Question is asking how many employees completed the training
NOT SUFFICIENT

(2) Of all employees, 30 percent of those who began the training completed it.
There is no mention of how many employees began the training. All the 120 employee were offered the training but there is no mention about how many began the training.
NOT SUFFICIENT

Combining (1) & (2)
(1) Of all employees, 30 percent completed more than half of the training.
30% * 120 = 36 employees completed more than half of the training.
(2) Of all employees, 30 percent of those who began the training completed it.
There is no mention of how many employees began the training. All the 120 employee were offered the training but there is no mention about how many began the training.

IMO : C

(1) Of all employees, 30 percent completed more than half of the training.

(2) Of all employees, 30 percent of those who began the training completed it.

Statement 1: Its insufficient as we don't know if they will complete the training or leave in between.
Statement 2: Insufficient: As we don't know 30% of what? can be of 120 or can be 30% of some number who began training.

Combining: From statement 1 we know 30% of 120 began training and from statement 2 we know those who began completed it. So sufficient

Answer : E
We have the total of 120 employees.
1. 30% completed half of the training => 120 = no joining + half + completed => insufficient
2. 30% of those who began the training => we do not know exactly how many began the training

120 employees - how many of them completed the training?

(1) Of all employees, 30 percent completed more than half of the training. - Ok, so we now that at maximum 30% of all the employees could have completed the training. Whether the number is 30% or 10% we don't know -> INSUFFICIENT

(2) Of all employees, 30 percent of those who began the training completed it. - Since all employees were offered the training, I am tempted to presume that all of them started the training. However, I am afraid we don't know - > INSUFFICIENT

(1) & (2)- We know that 70% completed less than half of the training, meaning some of them may not have even started the training. Therefore, both are INSUFFICIENT.

E is the answer.

A company offered a training program to all of its 120 employees. How many employees completed the training?

Statement1: Of all employees, 30 percent completed more than half of the training.

--> 120*(\(\frac{30}{100}\))=36 (employees completed more than half of the training, but not fully)

Also, NO info about other 84 employees whether they completed the training.

Insufficient.

Statement2: Of all employees, 30 percent of those who began the training completed it.
--> NO info about how many employees BEGAN the training.

Insufficient.

Taken together 1 and 2,

Statement1 says that 36 employees completed more than half of the program, BUT
--> that doesn't mean ONLY 36 employees started the program.--> Maybe, 40 employees or 50 employees started the program

Since we can't find the number of employees who started the program in total,
we will not solve this problem.

Insufficient

The answer is E.

Kudos
A) Gives no info of completion
B) No info about how many of 120 people actually started

A+B does not add any value
