Which batch? IB/PE requires an internship and so Jan batch is really the way to go. Also where do you want to work post MBA and for how long?

Dear all

In advance, please let me apologise for such controversial title.

I am north Asian w/ 3y consulting, and 1y finance experience. I was offered a seat for INSEAD, and still wondering should I accept or not.

Above all, though my targeted post MBA industry is investment banking or private equity, which usually require substantial amount of pre-MBA finance experience, I do not possess enough experience in finance field so staying another year in finance and pursuing MBA may position me better on finance job market.

Also, I perceive that regarding “community” building, or “comradeship”, 2 year program outperform one year program. (I have heard from some of INSEAD alumni that it was not so easy to build such friendship due to short length and hustle and bustle)

You may say “apply another year then!”
But as a candidate from over represented pool (north Asian male, consulting/finance) and being over 30 years old, it would be highly risky to decline current offer and get another offer from INSEAD-equivalent school.

Want to ask if someone has been in similar situation, currently working in finance (m&a or PE), or has general comments on myself.

Thanks

For IB without strong background in modelling/CF --->>> 2 year program
Also, extremely tough to get to IB (and perhaps does not make sense) after 30.

Consulting to PE - is possible, but again the biggest market of this industry is in the US...
