Help! Michigan Ross v. Indiana Kelley (full-ride) [#permalink]

Hey nlj1cool2

Congratulations on your Admits!

I had to make a similar decision, had to choose between Kelley (full-ride) and NYU- Stern (60K scholarship). I chose Stern and I am sharing my reasoning with you incase it helps.

1. My post-MBA goal was consulting and on some research I realized that I have a better shot at getting into my dream company (McKinsey) at Stern as compared to Kelley. While Kelley had a lot of consulting opportunities too, I thought the ones at Stern would give me an edge.

2. I spoke to people at both schools. I loved the culture at both schools, but realized that the networking opportunities and the peer network at stern would add a lot more value to me.

3. MBA was going to be my final degree, and I thought it made sense to go to the best college I can get into.

Having said that, I did try to negotiate my scholarship with NYU Stern, but that didn't workout.
I've also been planning to take up a TA/GA position in my second year to ease up the financial burden and looking up scholarship resources for second year (There are quiet a few at Stern).

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can help in any other way :)

I think most of the good points are covered here. I will just add one thing:
what is important to you - the reputation (ranking) of the school or Lower Financial Burden?
With the admits from Ross and Kelley, I see you are capable enough to get the results you want in your career. And there will a few more opportunities at Ross Vs Kelley but getting into Human Capital roles post-MBA will probably not be a big problem for you at either school.

Hope this helps.
I would be happy to answer any specific follow-up questions you have.
