Don't know how many people are actually applying here, but since I live in DC, and I'd like to continue living here, Georgetown is my first choice. I applied R1. Unfortunately, I only scored a 640 on my GMAT, but feel like my political background could be helpful. Although, DC is full of politicos so it may not be as unique as I thought. While I wait for the Jan. 15 date, anyone think I could get in?

I think it will come down to your work experience and your essays. You'll probably need a good UG gpa just to prove you can hack it intellectually, but you can definitely get in with a weakness. My undergrad GPA was 2.54 and I managed to get in so a 640 gmat isn't a killer.

Hey guys, would you know if Georgetown accepts a pdf copy of transcripts while waiting for the official ones from the undergrad university? Unfortunately, my undergrad can only send my transcripts by Jan 8. I'm applying for the Jan 2 deadline so I emailed admissions office if I can send a pdf. Haven't gotten a reply though.

Hi Sleepy, would you know if they'll allow this? I don't want to postpone my application to round 3...
Also, when is Admissions office on break for the holidays?

By the way, please count me in for round 2.

Thank you! :)

Vanilla

It should not be too much of an issue. One of my recommender submitted the rec way too late but I was still considered for R1.The admissions office should respond positively to your request.

Thanks class2012!

That was very considerate of them! May I know how you asked them to still consider you for round 1? I've emailed but haven't gotten a reply. I'll call monday if they're still open. When are they closed for the holidays?

Thanks :)

I just emailed them and also mentioned it during the interview.

I believe they are closed from 25th to 1st,just like most other schools.

I have 2 yrs undergrad at a junior college and 2 yrs at a university. I know each school approaches this differently, I'm wondering how GT calculates/evaluates the GPA of an applicant such as myself who has attended 2 schools.

Thanks!

ok....sorry for the hiatus, exams and the blizzard were...interesting.

The school is closed until the 4th. I don't think it will be a problem with the transcripts, it's honestly pretty weird that they require official transcripts so early in the process. I got mine to them a couple days late and they were still able to slip them into my file. If you e-mail it probably went to one of the admissions ambassadors, who were just turning over to first years, and we were all taking exams. I'm not sure that's what happened, but it seems likely from what I can gather. You should be ok though.

Hi guys, I have a question on the resume format. The application requires a 2-page, double-spaced, 10pt font resume but I can't fit mine in the required format. It seems too limited especially given that Georgetown's application doesn't ask much info on employment history and educational awards like the other schools do..

I attended the most recent admissions chat and someone asked about this. The adcom said that as long as the resume was readable, any format was fine.

Is single-spaced 1 3/4 pages acceptable?

What do you guys think?

I think 2 pages is a lot for a b-school resume. You don't need to dump every activity of yours on the resume.Just include the important points.

Also they have a separate essay for community involvement.

Do the adcoms call you to tell you that you are accepted at Georgetown or will they send an email update?

I got called but I was in off the waitlist so I'm not sure. I do remember that the admissions office has a horrible habit of confusing "by" and "after" in their communications. ie. We'll tell you by 5 pm on XX, march 2010 actually meant "We'll tell you at or after 5 pm on XX, March 2010" so don't stress if you haven't heard anything the day before like a lot of the other schools.
