We use less for uncountable noun and fewer/lower for countable nouns.

The three pointed star (Subject ) is a countable number and we we are dealing with number - LOWER is more appropriate.

Meaning : The three pointed star will be available for the better price tag.

Price is both countable and uncountable. However, When you simply say price, or a price or a much lesser price, it refers to the quantum of money and is singular.But when you say prices, it is clear that you're referring to several prices like those mentioned in a price list.

In the given case, I feel , the word price should be treated as singular since it says a much lesser price. Per se, Mercedes cannot have several prices for one and the same model at any given time.

So lesser price is okay,I feel. We also have the example of --Fifty rupees is too much for a kerchief. Here fifty rupees is a quantum of money and therefore singular.

I am curious to know the use of "price" as a plural noun.

Lesser is usually used for uncountable things and price here is countable. So you can reject A, C, E based on this. the only options left are B and D. B is the answer as D has "one" and the underlined part has you which makes it nonparallel.

Hope this makes sense.

Between Lower/Lesser options (A) , (C) and (E) can be rejected for the use of " Lesser "

I agree with Daagh, but I would like to have more clarity on the use of LESS & LOWER.

Lesser price is incorrect

B. lower price than you ever imagined
Lower price perfectly correct

C. lesser price than you had ever imagined
lesser is incorrect. use of past perfect is wrong

D. lower price than one would have ever imagined
Use of would have (hypothetical) is wrong

E. lesser price than you could ever have imagined
lesser is incorrect
Hence B is correct

It's usage of had, as here u need not to indicate any event sequence so simple past tense is ok.

souvik101990, my understanding of the error in D is the 'would'. If 'would' was to be replaced with 'could' will the sentence be correct?

Why else is D wrong?

I am not sure if this helps out your query.

Would is completely hypothetical - We use would when we don't have any past resemblance...ex: if I were you, then I would have done it..

Could is past tense of can - Could refer to the something done in the past... ex: When I was 10, I could climb trees easily.

In GMAT would is always hypothetical and could refers to some ability or true event in the past that happened.
