Fiction = 1/5
Self help = (1/5) - (1/3)*(1/5) = (1/5) - (1/15) = 2/15

Total asked = 2/15 + 1/5 = 1/3

Let total number of books be \(= 30\)

Fiction books \(= \frac{1}{5}\) of total books \(= \frac{1}{5} * 30 = 6\)

Self help books \(=\) fiction books \(-\) \(\frac{1}{3}\) of fiction books \(= 6 - \frac{1}{3}* 6 = 6 - 2 = 4\)

Total number of fiction books and self help books \(= 6 + 4 = 10\)

Hence the fraction of fiction and self-help books to the total books \(= \frac{10}{30} = \frac{1}{3}\)

We can let n = the total number of books and create the equations:

n/5 = fiction

and

n/5 x 2/3 = 2n/15 = self-help

Thus, fiction and self-help books are n/5 + 2n/15 = 3n/15 + 2n/15 = 5n/15 = n/3.

Answer: E
