I would suggest go ahead and apply. For INSEAD, it’s the overall profile that matters, not just the GMAT score. I am R2 admit and saying this from experience. If your overall profile is strong, focus on enhancing other aspects of the profile in your application than retaking the GMAT.

Thanks Pooja, appreciate your take!

The recruitment officer I spoke to seemed to think my profile was a perfect fit for INSEAD, but (maybe it’s the skeptic in me) I wasn’t sure if he’s just saying that to get me to apply sooner since I’m sure part of their KPI is to pull in more applications, haha

You can get an external profile evaluation to get a second opinion.

Hey everyone, hoping I can get some advice here. Currently planning to apply in R4, I recently (finally) took the GMAT and scored 700 – when I had a call with the MBA recruitment office the person I spoke with mentioned he didn’t think it was necessary for me to bother retaking, but not sure how much at face value I should take this given they most likely would want to source as many applicants as possible? Any thoughts from this group? I still plan to retake once more before admissions deadline but just curious how to take this comment.

The idea behind the (very) late rounds at INSEAD is to attract highly differentiated profiles, as well as applicants with very high GMAT scores. If you belong to a well-represented population, a score of 700 in R4 is unlikely to impress the adcom. However, if you are among the few from your demographic who apply to INSEAD, your candidacy will be strongly considered. Feel free to get feedback on your profile.

Hello All. Applied in R3 for Jan 2024 intake. Still haven't heard back from the team. Is there anything I can do to improve my chances at this stage? Reaching out to the admissions team or anything else?

Also would appreciate inputs on the expected date to hear back from the team on alumni interviews? Would the INSEAD application portal reflect if they shared the email for alumni interview?

Wow that's a speedy turnaround. I applied around the same time and haven't heard back yet.

Hi st2024,

perhaps you have already received similar feedback but, whether applying in R4 with a 700 GMAT score is a good idea or not will highly depend on the applicant pool you belong to. For example, if you come from an over-represented nationality, applying in Round 4 would be strongly discouraged. And applying in Round 1 in the next intake would be strongly recommended.

Keep in mind that INSEAD is not re-applicant friendly, which means that, in most cases, you only have one shot. So, you want to apply when your chances are at their highest. And Round 4 is rarely the case.

Feel free to shoot me an email at alex@arleeconsulting.com with your resume and more details about your background for an unbiased and objective opinion of your chances.

Thank you very much.

Warm regards
Alex

What does your profile look like, if you don't mind? I'm super anxious.

I’m 28, Canadian (of Indian descent) and raised in ME. 4 years of work experience in Real estate accounting and pivoted to real estate PE in the last year (total 5.5 years) working with multinational teams. 700 GMAT, and spent 1 year abroad in Australia.

All the best, and hoping all of us hopefuls make it :)

You would get a mail from the AO upon submission of the application. That's how you would know even before you hear back from them about the interview decision.
