Congrats on completing the app. I am still struggling with my essays. Any tips?

tell a story that shows how you solve problems not just in terms of actions, but why you took those actions, preferably in teams. Give a little reflection on what you learned about yourself, but try to hit on areas that would make you a good fit for the case method...they don't have to all be things you learned about why you're great for it...could be weaknesses that the case method will round out for you or that make you a good participant.

Hi Prodizy

Keep your story simple. What I have written is some uncompleted task for which I am putting efforts from last 18 months and same I want to continue after MBA. Though I did not mention explicitly the challenges faced and the learning but it is evident from the story.
Hope it helps.

Thanks. I am more worried about how to put my thought process across in the essay. It's just not coming satisfactorily. This essay is the most difficult essay till now in my application process. May be I should put how I approached this essay itself. lol

Hi All,

For the "Learning teams are an integral part of Darden’s academic experience. What personal qualities and expertise will you bring to your Darden learning team?" essay, would it be a good idea to even talk about the clubs I want to get involved with ?

Na. The question is about the learning team. So I think we should focus on the same. If you can effectively communicate how you can contribute to the learning team, and STILL has space left, then by all means go for it.

I would say talk about a club/activity in Darden if it ties with what skill you will bring to the learning team. Like if you say i will bring my cooking skills to use in my learning team , then saying "Additionally, I will benefit greatly by meeting others with similar interests from Darden's cooking club"

The reason why they have specifically asked for personal qualities is so that you can write about what YOU will bring to the table.

Good luck with the final edits and reviews everyone!

Hello,

Hope you are having fun with the last minute changes in your Darden app.

How strict is Darden with the word limit? I am getting 530 words for the essay and 270 words for the learning team contribution short answer. Do I need to worry? Will I come across arrogant if I exceed the word limit by 5%?

Best,
Prodizy

Hey prodizy,
You can only exceed the word limit in the 500 word essay. The learning team and short term goals essays have a word limit counter. The online application doesn't let you paste more than 250 words.

Submitted for R1. Good luck to all.

One of my recommenders were unable to submit their references in time because of a family emergency. They have assured me they would complete it in a day or so. Hope adcom considers my application for round 1.

Cheers!

I'm in a similar situation and I emailed the adcom a few hours ago. One of my recommender submitted his letter yesterday but the other one cant send it in till tomorrow. I was impressed by how quickly I got a response and they basically said the recommenders would get a 2-3 day grace period so you should be fine.

Has anyone seen this weird thing about Darden app
"At Darden, a core part of the academic experience is participation in and contribution to your learning team. In what ways will your teammates say that you add value?" - this question was there when I checked my application like 3 weeks ago. Today it was not there. I ended up merging this with the "Learning teams are an integral part" essay. I was baffled at first, and ended up merging and submitting at 4:56 PM ET....not quite sure about grammar/ spelling though :(

Hey Syedsan,

Congrats on submitting the app. I think that question is from last year's app. BTW, there is still time for submission. The deadline is at 12.
