Re: Chicago (Booth) 2013 - Calling All Applicants [#permalink]
So, I have been admitted to Kellogg with with a pretty good scholarship ($20k/year). If I somehow get off the waitlist and into Booth, should I give up the $ and go, or should I just stick with Kellogg? I'm leaning towards doing something in finance (IB then hopefully PE) and am currently in consulting.

Only you can make that decision! Of course you know that Kellogg has a reputation for being a great marketing school and Booth has a reputation for being a great finance school, but I am sure you will get an excellent education at either school. It's up to you! (And Booth!)

Dinged today. Same as last year. Really wish Booth could tell me my flaws rather than inviting for interviews.

Even though Booth is more known for finance, it's not like you'll have a hard time getting a job in IB from Kellogg. A lot of the banks still recruit there (and thus allot spots). There may be less spots, but there will also be less people going after them.

At the end of the day, I think it will just come down to where you feel more comfortable. 40k is nothing to sneeze at though... and assuming you become an associate at a BB, you'll make the same amount coming from Kellogg that you would from Booth.

Hi guys, I just received an email regarding next steps, where no information about scholarship was included.

Does anyone know where I can find the detailed scholarship information? I was too excited to hear clearly when I received the call yesterday. Thanks.

Alright, thanks for the advice everyone. After thinking through this I'm leaning towards just going with Kellogg and the scholarship money if I somehow manage to get into Booth of the waitlist.

Does anybody else think I should strongly consider Booth if it came to it? Or does anybody have other reasons why I should just go with Kellogg?

Your email will not contain scholarship info, nor will the admitted students site. The only place you will see scholarship info is on the physical letter you will receive in the mail in the next week or so.

WL at Booth!! I am an accountant interested pursuing I Banking short-term and PE/HF/VC long-term. As I am already admitted to Berkeley, is it worth waiting for Booth’s result or run with Berkeley offer with scholarship? What you guys think?

They aren't mutually exclusive. You can accept at Haas and also stay on the waitlist at Booth.

I don't know about Booth specifically, but in general if you don't have anything major to add to your profile and you still want to submit a WL update of some sort, then just let the school know of your interest. At the end of the day though, it is NOT a requirement to send a WL update (people are accepted to schools without one).

Waitlisted...3 waitlists and no acceptances. Guess I need to work on my interview skills for next year, assuming I don't get lucky and pulled off one of these WL's.

I'm parannoying about my thank you note too: I misplaced the guy's business card somewhere between Chicago and LA, and by the time I found it, it was late enough that I didn't want to remind him that I was so late writing a thank-you note. :P

I assume the rule is 'Thou should write a thank you note, otherwise thou will be waitlisted' :(

I seriously feel that it's because of my crappy interview I am waitlisted. Will it be ok if I ask my interviewer for a feed back ? What do you guys think?

Maybe it's something out of your control, like limited work experience? Or maybe you could provide some supplementary letters of rec?

A distilled version could be: "Thou shalt not leave any stone unturned in thy quest for b school, no matter how small."
