I've had a different experience than you have with regards to updates, most of the time I have found candidates just sitting on their hands, thinking there's nothing they can do.

Absolutely agree that an update is not compulsory - and that is why I really believe that outside counsel in this situation is requisite. And above all it must be something NEW or you will really annoy people.

I do feel that if someone's been on the waitlist for 6+ months, if they send *one single well, crafted update communique* and they are accepted the following month that's strong evidence that it worked.

Especially because the percentage of those accepted from the waitlist is extremely small. I don't have any specific information for INSEAD but this offers an idea
https://www.mbadataguru.com/blog/mba/mba-waitlist-acceptance-rate-analysis-2019-data/

I believe the level of correlation I've seen shows IF done properly, thoughtfully, professionally - the update letter works.

And while we can't be absolutely sure it was the reason for acceptance, by the same token, one can also not be sure a "frivolous" update was the reason for a ding.

It isn't the only strategy however, it's also a good idea to submit the third letter of recommendation or a letter of support, if it adds value to your overall profile: not repeating things but supplementing things.

This might be better if you don't have anything new to submit or it's been detected that you have a few problems in your application.

Congratulations to all the applicants admitted from the waiting list.
Myself I am waiting for the interview decision (I've applied in round 4). I'm a bit surprised though that you heard back only a week after R4 deadline. Do you think it means that the pool of applicants in R4 is so small that they could straight away fill up some empty spaces?
In any case, I'm realising now that waiting for the interview decision is by far the worst part of the whole application process (even though it hasn't been an easy ride due to the GMAT). Fingers crossed!
Best of luck to you all!

Hi all,

I am currently still on the waiting list for INSEAD (applied R1) from India. I've sent two further letters of recommendation from past employers to update my profile. I am not sure if there's much else I can do to be offered a confirmed seat. What do you think are the chances?

Look forward to replies.

Regards.

Just got the email today stating I have been selected for interview! R4. Just one more hurdle...

Wasn't expecting it so soon but very nice to have that done with. Only bad part is now it likely means a longer wait to get the final decision.

Congratulations! That is quite early. Would you kindly share your location and AO?

Thanks!

Hi MrsB,

I'm in the Netherlands. I feel a bit uncomfortable sharing the AO though even though it isn't anything super personal. Also best of luck to you and I hope you get your good news soon too!

Congratulations! Do you mind sharing the date you received the confirmation email about your application package ready to review from your AO?

It is not on MBA connect any longer. It’s on my.insead.edu. The number of selected candidates are 326 as of today for the 19D promotion.

I don’t know if there in easy way to do that. It would take forever to do it the long way. Sorry!

Hi,

I have received today an invitation to attend an interview in London in a couple of weeks. I was quite surprised. Any idea on what kind of questions I can expect from the interviewers?
