Resources I currently use for my prep are given below

Quants:
OG / GMAT Club Math book / GC - Quant Mega thread post / GC - All you need for Quants posts

Verbal:
MGMAT SC Guide / Powerscore CR Bible / RC - I use EMPowerGMAT's RC method and use official questions for practice.

Practice Test:
1.GC Quants Test
2.Veritas Prep Tests
3.GMAT Practice tests for full length practice tests.

I am currently working on P & C problem sets found in Bunuel's signature.

Quant is my weak area. I am working on improving my Quant score by using the Quant Megathread post in GC along with GMAT Club math book. My prep is more Quant focused.

Verbal - I am decent scorer in Verbal. Without much preparation i always score around V34-36. Though my prep is more quant focused, i do not want to not to miss out on verbal so i practice 2 RC Passages a day (RC was on lower side in my first attempt).

Hii
What are your weak areas in Quant, focus on them by doing questions sets, quizzes.
Also keep on further strengthening the strong areas.
Gmatclub mocks are highly recommended for imbibing the application of concepts.
You can tag me in any quant question you find difficult to understand, I would be happy to help you.
Happy learning

Great! If I were you, I would focus more on the arithmetic. Just arithmetic and make sure you can nail any arithmetic question quickly and with 90% precision at the least.

Do you want to counter meeting probability of combinations questions unless you get to Q50. I got my probability question wrong on my GMAT and I still got a Q49 which I feel is respectable :-)

The fundamentals and arithmetic are critical. That is a strong foundation you can’t live without. P&C are the first world problems :-)

Hi akadiyan,

To start, how long ago did you take the Official GMAT and what were your Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores? Was that your first attempt or have you taken the GMAT more than once?

With a 620, you're not as far from a 700+ as you might think, but you will have to make some significant changes to how you handle the Quant section, the Verbal section or both before you can consistently score at that higher level. Thankfully, the GMAT is the same consistent, predictable Exam that it's always been, so you CAN train to score at a higher level.

You might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.

I agree with your point about focusing on fundamentals and arithmetic. I actually started from chapter 1 in Quantitative Mega thread which is arithmetic and followed that sequence and Bunuel's signature problems set were part of that exercise.

My next step is to start working on GMAT Club CAT's along with focusing on Arithmetic , Number properties and fundamental areas.

Hello All,

An quick update on where i am currently with my preparation

By this weekend i am done with going through all chapters in Quant megathread once. I got access to GMAT Club tests for a month. I have planned to work on GMAT Club tests as section wise quizzes this time.

My plan is to do a quick revision of a chapter from Quant megathread and then attempt GC Quant quizzes for that particular chapter difficulty wise. For Example, i started with a quick revision of chapter No 1 - Arithmetic and now working on solving 500 level PS/DS questions in Arithmetic and then to 600 and 700 level.

BTW, i did not forget verbal altogether. I am following an very important advice given by abhimahna in his debrief - 2 RC's / day without fail.

At this time i remember a quote i saw in pushpitkc signature a while back “You’ve got what it takes, but it will take everything you’ve got.” How true it is.

Thanks very much for your support. The blog "Developing the Proper Mindset For GMAT Success" is what i needed exactly at this moment.

Also when i was reading TTP Blog , i came across this blog "https://blog.targettestprep.com/studying-for-gmat-while-working/". Both these pages actually helped me learn something new and very much essential.

PS: I have been using GMAT Equation guide by TTP for quick reference before my practice tests. The Equation guide is very very detailed and am using it more like a flash card to revise whenever i get time.

Thanks much
Akadiyan

Hi,

I will be giving my rescheduled 2nd attempt on 31st march 2020 . (I rescheduled from 27th Jan because I knew I can prepare better ) . My target score is 760 and I ain't stopping until I reach this score.

Materials I am using /used
1)Jamboree RED & BLUE BOOK
2)EGMAT quant & verbal pack
3)GMAT QUANT CLUB QUIZZ
4)GMAT FILTER FOR OG - all OG EVER
5)MGMAT ADVANCE QUANT - Planning to start from today . I will update on this after a week.

I have finished all my 6 official mocks . But I do have 4 more sigma egmat mocks and 12 jamboree full mocks . I have enough material for practice and instead of switching materials I am planning to stick to what I have .

For SC - I think I know 90% of concept but haven't practiced all yet .
Strategy - to understand meaning and analyse structure and go through options quickly . Going through all options currently take me 2 minutes (for 600 above level). I am trying to reduce my time by simply going through more SC questions and quickly analysing the pattern . I am not dependent on SPLIT METHOD as it distracts me from main aim which is meaning and grammar first.

For CR - I am aware of all types and polishing on what to look for method of VERITAS PERP . The concept of shopping list is working good with me . I identify the key elements and then aim for what I am looking for and this has helped me polish 700 level questions . I am trying to save my time here so that I can use it for RC .I AM DOING OFFICIAL QUESTIONS ONLY even if I have to repeat the logic I want to make CR second nature to help me drive towards right answer with practice .

For RC - I am planning to do 4 RC per day and 2 without fail .
strategy- All RC will contain at least 2 inference and rest location based question .
I am trying to polish my RC mapping structure and locations of important points and concluding meaning and connecting each para .
To attack questions I use POE method mostly I have seen wrong answers will carry opp of passage content or vague ans/out of context . I am still working on this paying attention on details . Need to polish this to make sure I get no RC questions wrong .

For quants
SCOLARANIUM & GMATCLUB followed by OG .
I have split each week into single topics .For eg last week it was GEO . I did all GEO questions fro mall resources mixed . I did not exhaust questions . I prefer questions which help me think and connect and build my practical approach towards a question. This week its word problems and I will ensure I note down any new pattern in my note book with question and will try to review all at the end of week.

Hi

I will be taking the GMAT on 10th March. I've preping for 3 weeks or so.

I'd love to hear your opinions on my mock scores, listed in chronological order

GMAT Official Mock #1 - 720 Q48 V41 (AWA+IR/ Quant / Verbal)
Veritas Practice test #1 - 650 Q47 V33 (Quant / Verbal / IR+AWA)
Veritas Practice test #2 - 670 Q47 V35 (Quant / Verbal / IR+AWA)
Veritas Practice test #3 - 690 Q49 V36 (AWA+IR/ Quant / Verbal)
GMAT Official Mock #2 - 740 Q49 V41 (Quant / Verbal / IR+AWA)

Order of sections didn't seem to make such a difference -- I prefer Q/V/AWA+IR in order to hit Verbal with more stamina

My quant seem to be evolving regardless of the platform, but Verbal seems tricky. I feel the GMAT Official is much easier.
What should I expect in the real GMAT?
Anyone having similar experiences with GMAT Official and other Practice exams?

Best!

gmatway,

All the best for your preparation. I think with your plan and time in between now and your exam date, i think 760 is definitely possible. Lets keep posting our updates and help each other in our preparation.

Hola,

How is everyone's preparation coming along.

I am continuing to work on GMAT Club CAT's as quizzes. So far i have completed section wise quizzes for chapters 1 to 14 [Chapter numbers according to Quant Mega thread].

I changed the order of taking quizzes. Since i am fairly confident in Word problems and P&C sections [Thanks to Quant Megathread by Bunuel], i have planned to take Geometry/Co-Geo section next and then move on to Word Problems / P&C.

What i learnt from taking GC CAT's as Quiz so far:

1.I was able to improve my weak area's with dedicated focus. Reviewing each question thoroughly helps big time.

2.My strong area's are not so strong and weak area's are not so weak.
What does this mean ?.Before this exercise i was thinking i was good in NP and Roots&Exponents. But after running through 700 level GC CAT questions, i realised i have so much to learn. Actually my accuracy was low in areas i considered strong. Reviewing those i got wrong improved my baseline capability. Oh boy, GC CAT's are really tough.

3.I take the quiz in progressive difficulty levels. I take 500 level first, review the error log and take notes. Then i move onto 600 and then to 700. I make sure i learn something from question i for wrong. This exercise takes some time , but provides real benefit.

Overall , my confidence in my Quant ability have increased in last few weeks. This coming from me is a big thing.

Whats Next:
I have started working on Geometry/coordinate geometry - quizzes. Geometry is my main weak area , so taking it slow and steady.

Verbal:
I have been doing 2 things in verbal this week.

1.I have been going through GMATNinja post - "Ask me anything about GMAT SC" this week. This post is a real gem.
2.Practice 2 RC's from OG 2020 daily.

I think i am going in the right direction and with dedicated effort and sincerity i believe i could achieve 700+ score this time.

Hi akadiyan,

the link below refers to my debrief for the first attempt.

https://gmatclub.com/forum/esr-review-315457.html

Like a lot of other candidates, I had dreams of scoring well, but in reality it wasn't the case. I am reviewing where I went wrong and how the score can be improved. Since I am looking for a massive improvement, I am going through everything from the start.
