Yes I absolutely recommend that you switch to the GRE at this time, because they have a whiteboard available.

As I understand is a lot of pressure on the GMAC to make a whiteboard available but it's worthwhile for you to move forward now.

Manhattan GMAT has a mock exam on their site.

I have several candidates where they just could not crack the GMAT and they switched to the GRE, and even without any further preparation they just aced it. and went on to Wharton, CBS, etc.

If anyone out there is considering the sunk-cost they've made it to the GMAT, and reluctant to switch, please give it yourself the chance to pivot so you can accelerate the timeline ob all of this.

You have more time to work on your essays and applications. The more time you have to work on your applications the better they will be and the better your odds will be, as well.

Thank you for the reassurance!

Since my Verbal score is at 39 I do think GRE might be a good fit; GMAT with its online whiteboard just doesn't seem practical!

From the PersonalMBACoach blog, I see that Columbia changed Essay 3 and kept Essay 1 and Essay 2 the same as last year.

Essay #1: Through your resume and recommendations, we have a clear sense of your professional path to date. What are your career goals over the next 3 - 5 years and what, in your imagination, would be your long-term dream job? (500 words)

Essay #2: Why do you feel Columbia Business School is a good fit for you? (250 Words)

Essay #3: Tell us about your favorite book, movie or song and why it resonates with you. (250 Words)

Hello GMAT Club Community,

Thank you for taking the time to read my question. While filling up the application to Columbia, I came across a section called "Financing Your MBA/Sponsorship". In which you are asked to designate a value you will be taking in loans and how much you will be contributing from your own resources to the program (set aside any scholarship you've won).

The instructions read like this:
"Instructions: Please use this section to outline your plan to finance the MBA program. This is intended to provide an opportunity for applicants to think through their financing strategy. Students will not be tied to this blueprint and the information below does not impact the admissions decision."

Then there is this link:
MBA - Estimate how you will finance the cost of your total first-year budget.

This is my first application, and I don't want to screw it up.

Well, my question is ¿do the values being requested are for the funding of the first year of the MBA or the entire program (2 years)?

Thank you for your help and comments.

Regards :)

Hi Guys - I've submitted CBS ED on 21 July and haven't heard back yet, curious as to whether anyone has been invited to interview or dinged yet (PS - i hate the term ding :))?

My profile is:
GMAT: 740 (Q49, V42)
GPA: 6.27/7.00
Professional certifications: Chartered Accountant, Chartered Financial Analyst (Charter pending)
WE: 46 months, 58 on matriculation (26 months have been in deal advisory at EY-Parthenon, 38 months here on matriculation - prior WE in tax consulting). WE excludes 36 months of full-time training/internship at EY tax consulting

I guess I should add here that i'm an Indian male, thankfully non-IT :)

Congratulations!! Curious though, did it really take 8 weeks to hear back or is that a typo?

Hello,
Other than GMAT, how competitive is it to get in through EA score/ GRE score?

From what the admissions told me, 155+ seems to be the score they are looking for in the EA. As for the GRE, use the online tool to convert a competitive GMAT score and find an equivalent GRE score.
Hope this helps.
