How long after submitting the application did most people hear back for an interview?

hacorus

Do you know any approximate timeline that CBS follows for sending out interview invites?

nirali321

Did you apply for the January deadline or June?

I applied for the April rolling deadline

When will Columbia release information on student aid (merit and need based)? Columbia is my top choice but the sticker price could be a deterrent.

Posted from my mobile device

I don't know the timelines for need-based scholarship, but for merit-based scholarship, their official communication says they'll be released around end of March (for ED admits). RD admits usually hear about merit-based scholarships on being admitted. So ED admits should ideally hear back from them soon. But the thing with CBS is that this is also rolling. Meaning they'll reach out only if it's a "yes". They will not tell you if it's a "no". So if they don't reach out, you'll just have to wait. You may or may not be offered one in the future. Not a student friendly process. Hope this helps!

If I've already received a full ride from other schools, should I just start negotiating right now? Columbia is my top choice but if I don't get any money from them I might not go.

I think you should. But I don't know how it's done, so please ask people who have done such negotiations before! That way you can put your case to the Adcom in the best way possible. Hope this helps!

They send invites within the allocated timeline of 6-8 weeks, and then take a decision in about 2 weeks following the interview, which is quite fast compared with normal deadlines in my experience.

Hey, I’m an admitted student in the MS&E program at CBS/Columbia Engineering starting Fall ‘21 and wanted to check if I can be added to any groups (networking, housing etc)? Many thanks for your help.

Me ☝🏼 I wrote to admissions about it and was told that if we don’t hear back by April 20th, it is unlikely that we will hear back about it at all

I have confirmation from 2 sources. Merit-based scholarships are over. So if you haven’t heard back from the school yet, assume you’re not getting one. You may get one closer to school starting, but chances are very very low

anikafromnyc - I’m in the same boat as well. Was hoping for some $ as an ED admit. Sadly haven’t heard anything

Hi guys,
Do you know if CBS still sends interview invites?
What are my chances, having applied a couple of weeks ago?

It takes 3 weeks to process the application. So, you must receive it soon enough
