Hi Guys,

R1 app submission deadline is just 5 days away. Hope those who haven't submitted their apps yet are putting finishing touches on the apps and will submit well in time. I am posting here summary and transcript of recent NUS Adcom chat. Thank you all for participating in the chat.

The NUS MBA is known for its extremely small class size and low acceptance rates. Could you give us a better idea of what are the top 3 things that you look for in prospective students? Thank you!

NUS_Jennifer: NUS MBA every year admits around 100 students for the full-time cohort. I think it's not a small class. But we are concerned about the student quality and mix. We expect every student can bring their own value to the class.

For rejected applicants, will adcom provide any feedback so that they can improve on those areas for the next application?

NUS_Jennifer: Sorry but we don't provide feedback for the interview.

Can you tell our participants, if rejected, what one should do to improve his/her candidacy while reapplying?

NUS_Jennifer: We will expect the re-applicants can tell us their personal and professional progress through the year.

How is the teaching method in NUS? Is it case studies which dominate the lectures throughout the 17 month tenure? Or is it a mix of Case Studies and concepts? I wanted to understand how a typical lecture progresses.

NUS_Jennifer: At NUS, we focus a lot on experiential learning. Some courses like accounting of course will be more concepts based and have exams for the evaluation. But most of the courses are case-study based.

Is there any opportunity of internship? Does NUS provide accommodation for international student?

NUS_Jennifer: our students are welcome to do the internship during 17-month MBA study since it will be one of the better way for non-local students to get hands-on experience in the local market as well as build your network. For housing accommodation: We do have on-campus accommodation for students. You can apply for it; alternatively you can also rent off-campus apartment.

What percent of students are given on campus accommodation?

NUS_Jennifer: Generally our students who apply for the accommodation get it. It's a not a big concern.

I am not working for past 6 months and prepared for GMAT & other competitive exams. How much a lack of job affects admission chances?

NUS_Jennifer: We only have the requirement that candidate must have at least 2 years of full-time work experience after the undergraduate study. For the gap, as long as you can provide an acceptable justification, it should be fine.

Is the management practicum held in the NUS campus or the students are based out of the company offices and get to collaborate with the leadership teams of the companies?

NUS_Jennifer: I would like to tell more about the Management Practicum since it's really a unique module. Every year we have more than 40 companies providing us more than 70 projects for our students to work on. You may find out more information from our website: https://mba.nus.edu/academic-experience/ ... -practicum or search the related video from youtube.

Will the results after interview be released once the first deadline i.e. 31 January is closed?

NUS_Jennifer: 31st January is the deadline for submission. It takes around 6-8 weeks for the review after we receive a completed application.

You do not need to bring anything at all.
At the max, bring the degree certificate, they might check it at the venue.

Checked mine, but unfortunately I did not have it hence could not show it.

All the best!
Do let us know how did it go.

Guys, can anyone share LOR questions for NUS and NTU (NBS).
Thanks in Advance!!

Here are the questions for NUS:

1. How long have you known the applicant and in what capacity/context?
2. In your opinion, what is the candidate's leadership potential for the next five years?
3. Please provide three memorable achievements the applicant attained in your company.
4. Kindly provide an instance when the applicant exhibited any one of the the following qualities. (a) Entrepreneurship (b)Leadership (c) Exceptional work performance
5. From what you understand of the applicant, what are his/her main motivations or interests in life?

Not sure about NBS, but I think all of the recommendation questions are on the same lines.

Thanks Ankur, can you please share the word limit of each question too.

Hi...
My referee link has expired and i have already submitted the application. Are you aware if anyone else faced a similar issue?

Already wrote to the admissions team but no response and no one is picking up the call.

My recommenders haven't even received the link yet and I tried re-sending it a couple of times. I have mailed the school about it.. waiting for their reply.
Anyone else have this problem?

I had the same problem with both recommenders. I applied at several BS but experienced this kind of problems just at NUS....
At the end everything worked.
To one recommender NUS sent the link directly.
To the second recommender: after trying for three times he finally received the link ....

How much time did they take to send the link after you contacted them?
How did you contact?

That was already in December. They send the link to the one recommender overnight, as I am placed in Europe. I would say it took around 12 hours.
I think in December the Admissions Team was less busy than currently...

Good luck!

The phone is not getting picked up and i am still awaiting a mail response.

Hi, I had encountered the same problem and that too 4 times. The link was sent to the recommender many times in my case. Admissions cell is highly helpful. They will reply to the mail. Plus I did get an interview invite before submitting my reco. So, don't worry !

Just to be 100% sure:
"Online Application Form. Only online applications will be accepted and there is NO application fee."

I submitted my application and at this stage there is absolutely no fee to pay?

This is really nice of NUS but I see this for the first time in my application process compared to other schools.
...just wanted to be sure, so maybe somebody can confirm.

Thanks
