Overall experience: 4.5 years including 1.5 years of entrepreneurial experience.
I have only start-up experience and started my own start-up, ran it for 1.5 years, raised seed funding, got bankrupt and had to shut down.
Presently, I am working with another start-up and heading the city's P&L end to end along with managing a team of 10 people.

I am targeting ISB's flagship program, please review my profile and let me know what are my chances and what should be the GMAT should I aim for?

Any further profile improvements necessary or any recommendation will be useful.

Thank you

Hey there,

While your profile is quite differentiated the weak area is your GMAT score. It is more so important since you had average acads. Going by R-1 trend this year it is not very likely that you will make the cut unless you have a super impressive story to tell to the adcoms through your essays. Since the R-2 deadline is quite close there is not much you can do to improve your GMAT score. Thus I would recommend you spend time on your essays and LoR and hope for the best. Good luck!

That's very varied experience Peeyush, which will have its strong and weak points. Adcoms may wonder why you want an MBA when you have already achieved so much. Also, moving into consulting at the associate level may not make sense with your rich and varied experience.

In all, you will have to tie your story together to convince the adcom about the need for an MBA.

Samreen,

1. Aim for a 700+ score. You are applying next year, so you have the time to practice more and improve your mock test scores.
2. your profile description talks about a lot of peripherals, but not about your work experience, the achievements and impact you have created at work. Its therefore hard to give more feedback

Interesting profile!
You have an interesting story to tell here- started up- failed- joined another venture and realized what I was doing wrong and areas where I lacked- b-school will help me fill those gaps.
keep up the good work and score 700+ on GMAT.

Its hard to say how your application will be perceived without knowing more about you. If you are an otherwise exceptional candidate, ISB may cut some slack on the GMAT score.
Important criteria will be your leadership capability and ability to make impact, both at work (proven skills) and at ISB, while you are there.

Hi Sumit

Your profile overall looks really good. Merchant Navy background, strong international experience, and clear goals. ECA is quite decent as well and so is the undergrad institution. While even this GMAT could work, given that you have some time at hand, you should try to raise it a bit. Also, what rank are you currently at?

Hi, thanks for your reply. I am serving as 4th Engineer. I will surely give one more attempt.

Can you please suggest me whether it will be a wise decision to do lean six sigma green belt course to make my profile stand out ( given the fact that lot of senior rank mariners also apply to ISB)

Nishtha,

You have a good profile. An interview call would depend upon the quality of your application.
Your essays and resume would be crucial here as this is where you can make your personality shine.
