Hello,

If you turn in the high GMAT score you are predicting, I believe you would possibly be a competitive applicant for the early-career programs such as HBS 2+2, Yale Silver Scholars, Stanford deferred, etc. I say “possibly” because it does depend on how low is low for the GPA, how strong the explanation for it is, and whether there is a track record of improvement (i.e. have you done better in recent semesters than in earlier ones?).

For these programs and any other MBA programs, you will need to elucidate your professional goals – particularly important when you are applying so young, i.e. to demonstrate you are making an informed decision to pursue this particular degree. Your internship sounds great and it will definitely give credibility in that regard.

As far as what other schools, most European MBA programs target older applicants compared to US programs, so I don’t know if that’s a great option. For other US programs, you’ll have to check school by school to see if they are open to applications from college seniors – some will, some won’t.

Have you considered a Master in Management from a top business school? London Business School and Michigan’s Ross are two that come to mind – they are specifically for people at your stage of education and career, and are one year. I suggest giving them a look if you haven’t done so yet.

Hi gagan2,

Thank you for your post and for sharing your profile. Without a GMAT score, it is difficult to provide an adequate evaluation of your profile. While you have a competitive background with a lot of great accomplishments, to be competitive for HBS and Stanford, you require a 740+ GMAT, particularly because of your demographic. A few notes on each section:

Academics: Typically, international students are not required to convert their CGPA, as they often do not follow the same academic system as the US. A more adequate measure is your class ranking. Can you share those details? Depending on where you rank, I recommend finding resources that can help you strengthen that rank in the coming year. I do like that you have successfully completed other courses to strengthen your academic profile.

Internship: I also like that you have a variety of experiences/internships you can speak to as well as leadership exposure you have gained - I am particularly referencing your experience with The Climber. Do you have an internship lined up this summer? Showcasing leadership in your b-school application is key; use every opportunity to build on and showcase your maturity and strength as a leader.

Community Engagement/ECs: Like your internship, your community engagement is strong. Are you still involved in (some of) these organizations? As to your founding 5 clubs, I like that you identified opportunities within your college to engage 200+ students and hosted events that brought many more together.

Honors/Awards: This component of your profile is equally impressive. It showcases an ambitious person with a diversity of interests.

I hope this helps. If you would like to continue the conversation, please reach out.

Good luck!
