If 3x + 2y = -2z, what is x? (1) x – y – z = 10 (2) x + y + z = -2 [#permalink]

(1) x – y – z = 10

(2) x + y + z = -2

Rearrange the equation

\(\frac{x=-2(z+y)}{3}\) x=?

St1 : \(y +z= x-10\) Suff
St2: \(y+z=-2-x\) Suff

If 3x + 2y = -2z, what is x?

3x= -2z-2y
3x=-2(y+z) ................ (1)

(1) x – y – z = 10
x-(y+z)=10
2x-2(y+z)=20
By eq 1
2x+3x=20
x=4
Sufficient

(2) x + y + z = -2
2x+2(y+z)=-4
by eq 1
2x+(-3x) = -4
x=4
Sufficient
