Marshall 2013 (USC) - Calling All Applicants

Completed my interview last week. The interview was conducted over SKYPE by a member of the admissions team. The questions were pretty similar to the ones posted by others in this thread.

Walk me through your resume.
Why did you decide to pursue an MBA?
What are your short term goals and long term goals?
Why Marshall?
What is your leadership style?
Any questions for me?

The interview lasted just over half an hour. At the end he asked me to check on Feb 1 for the results and wished me luck.

Thanks APEX, Kyle & SLR... Don't give up. USC told me $2500 deposit due by March 1. Now it looks like I might have to call UCLA and attempt some lobbying in order to get off the waitlist.

Infinitie - This is interesting, an interview invite just days before the decision date? What date range were you offered to schedule an interview between? Regardless, this is definitely a good sign that Marshall is interested.

Also, I've just received interview invitation. It's quite weird since the deadline for R2 notification passed. So excited ^^. Hence for one who hasn't received news, don't lose hope ^^
Btw, could you share your interview experience? how did it come?

That's a tough one. I've done plenty of research on Marshall's entrepreneurship program and have been very impressed. However, I don't know much about Kelley's program nor its entrepreneurial strengths other than the fact that it is ranked just behind Marshall by U.S. News.

USC has a long history in entrepreneurship and claims to be one of the first schools in the country to offer a specialization in this area. The entrepreneurship center, organizations, faculty and students all seem extremely involved and dedicated to this field of study. There are plenty of examples of alumni starting their own successful outfits right out of school and even a few students who took a hiatus mid-semester to pursue firms they developed while studying at Marshall. Plus, the LA/OC area is quickly becoming a new hotbed for startups.

What are your short and long term goals? What industries are you interested in? Are you planning on staying in the LA area after school?

In round 1, Indian admits received their binders 1 week after the decision date so I would expect yours to arrive next week.

As for the deposit deadline, yes, May 1st is the date for round 2 admits and the damage is $2,500...

I'm planning to be there. Just got off the waitlist yesterday! Woot! Hope to meet some of you at Admit Weekend.

International candidates PM me and I will send them the unofficial facebook group. Here we talk about i20 and visa issues and other challenges that international candidates are bound to face. Presently, we have 8 Indians in this group.

I'm still waiting too. I called and was told they should all arrive by Thursday.

I believe you are referring to the same page. The online application portal where you submit your application and view your application status is the same system that displays your admission status.

R2 Waitlist that got admitted today! So excited

Can't believe it's happening this late into the cycle, but was waitlisted in R1 and got admitted today!

In quite a bit of a dilemma now. Any late admits who received financial aid?

The round 1 deadline for Marshall is coming up quick! November 1st is a week from Thursday, how are everyone's application and essays coming along? Anyone running into any issues?

The data form seems pretty straight forward, similar to many other schools. There has been a few slight changes to the essay questions from last year but nothing major. After speaking the with admissions department last week, I discovered Marshall needs OFFICIAL transcripts of ALL schools attended (university and community college) mailed to the graduate admissions office prior to submitting your application. This has been the only headache I've run into so far but more may arise when I continue to dig deeper into the application tonight. I'll keep everyone posted...

Any thoughts on the "Additional Documents:
You may use this area to upload additional documents and information to support your application. " section after uploading your essays. Is this for other non MBA programs? Any advice
