Recommendations - where to view?

Recommendations - where to view? [#permalink] New post   05 Oct 2017, 06:40
I submitted R1 and did not waive my right to view my recommendations, but I cannot figure out where to view them. The application proof only has my recommenders’ information and the fact that I did NOT waive my right to view. Thank you!

The waiver states that "...Act of 1974 allows you to access your educational records if you enroll at Yale. You may waive your right of access to this specific report if you choose."

My guess is that you have to actually enroll at Yale and then request to view it - that's how I interpreted it. On the other hand, you can ask your recommenders for a copy if they allow that.

Hi,

Yes this is correct. I was just going to ask why you didn't waive your right to view them? The only way you will get the view them is if you are admitted so they are likely to be good anyway. It is much better to waive your right and just ask your recommenders to share them with you because you don't want to give the school any impression that you have influenced your recs.

Not waiving your right to view recommendations will probably harm your chances at an interview call.

Hmmm, I did not waive my rights for any of the schools I applied. This never occurs to me to be an issue... :( :( :(

I would disagree with the person who said this will harm your chances. It is one aspect of the application. It may make the ad com more suspicious if your recs and their authenticity so they may give them a bit more scrutiny but it does not mean that you won't get an interview.
