Scheller MBA Essays



There are two required essays and one optional essay.

  • Why an MBA and why Georgia Tech? (Required)
    Describe how your experiences, both professional and personal, have led you to the decision to pursue an MBA at Georgia Tech. Discuss your short- and long-term career goals and how Georgia Tech is best suited to help you achieve your goals. 4,000 character maximum (including spaces).
  • Ten facts (Required)
    List 10 facts about yourself that will help your future classmates get to know you. 1 ,000 character maximum (including spaces), but 200 words are a suggested limit.
  • Optional Essay
    The Admissions Committee believes that the required essays address issues that help us learn about you and understand your candidacy for the MBA program; however, you may provide us with any additional information pertinent to your admission that has not been previously covered in the rest of the application. Feel free to discuss any unique aspects of your candidacy or any perceived weaknesses. 4,000 character maximum (including spaces).

Hey guys.

I am planning to apply at Scheller and am having some trouble with the second essay question in which we need to list down 10 facts about ourselves. My concern is that the character limit is set to 1000 (including spaces?). Any idea how to go about it?

roykabir772 look up essay advice given by admissions consultants on Duke's essay 25 Random Things. There's heaps of it. And there is a 25 things sample essay on my sample essay page.

Hello MBAPrepCoach,

Thanks for your response and the sample essay. I went through those resources earlier itself. My concern is that I feel that I will not be able to put across the facts in those limited characters. I was hoping to give in some details rather than just writing single sentences. Fuqua keeps a 2-page limit for its 25 Random Things essay which gives some flexibility I suppose. I wonder how much one-liners about ourselves would help.

One of my recommenders was also facing technical problems. Ended up raising multiple tickets with the gatech tech support and finally got the recommendations submitted today. Let me know what problems your recommenders are facing. I might be able to help roykabir772

Apparently they are supposed to create an account at some website but they are unable to find any option to create the same. Even they raised tickets but ended u receiving the same link again.
I am yet to get any response regarding this from the adcoms.

recommendations can be submitted post the deadline . You have 30 days post the deadline to fill the recommendations.just got confirmation from adcom

Even I received a similar confirmation from the adcom (Emily Sharkey). Along with that, she informed that if the issue persists with the portal, the recommenders can share the recommendations directly with her and she can update our application.

I am looking the same information. As per their current students recommenders can complete the recommendations a couple of days post the deadline but I haven't received any news from the adcoms yet.

Not much time. My recommender faced two issues while uploading letter. But both were resolved by following the steps shared by tech support.
