After around 1.5 years of preparation, consisting of few breaks, I appeared for the GMAT (offline). Landed up with only 690 (V37, Q48) !
In Diagnostic I had (V17, Q40).
However, I expected atleast a 730 in actual exam.
The decrease in verbal to V37 can partially be attributed to exam pressure and a tensed exam environment. I could understand that I was not applying much brain in answering the verbal questions. I was not going 'in between the lines', specially in CRs. Further, I have always practised on Laptop, but the larger font size on a bigger computer screen in the exam seemed to effect me. However, these factors might justify why I didn't get V40, but can't explain why I failed to get V43. So, I need to increase my verbal skill. Kindly suggest strategies to improve verbal.
What I'm frustrated with is my Q48. I expected a Q50. I do admit GMATPrep (consistently kept Q50) is no way close to the actual Quant paper. I believe my Quant preparation was not bad enough to land up with a Q48. In test prep company mocks I used to keep Q48-49
In the actual exam, I kept on getting Overlapping set questions & those number line questions such as 's,u,v is on a line, which is closer bla bla..'. Several questions were from this two portions only. Initially I kept playing along, but towards end it seemed those number line questions are getting much tough. Quadratic substitution & percentages were the second thing that majorly covered the paper. There were No questions from work, speed-distance, inequalities, circles-triangles etc. Only 3 number system questions. Overall, Quant was not at all representative of what I practised in any mocks. So, kindly suggest me how to improve my Quant score.
I feel one more factor that may slightly have effected my score is that I kept on pushing my exam date. I feel, I was more prepared in verbal 6 months back. Although I kept on practising, I feel I kept on loosing the grip in this period. However, because of legal issues regarding passport, I had to push it.
Whatever, may be the case, these factors cannot account why I fell short of my target score of 750. I request you all to suggest how to improve both Quant & Verbal. Sources to follow, methodologies to keep track of progress, etc. & etc. Please provide your suggestions how shall I prepare to bring it up to 750.
Thanks in Advance !
