The answer is D
We should note the singular verb in the non underlined part of the sentence so we have to use a singular subject on this basis alone we can eliminate B
Now two entities are compared in the sentence fro their craniums and the two entities are "other primates" and "a human baby"
So we can reject A ,C E so the only choice remaining is D which has correct S_V agreement and correct parallelism .

A C and E all compare ‘primates’ with ‘craniums’. So all of these three are out. B makes a similar error by comparing ‘primates’ with ‘newborn human babies’.

The only possible answer is D.

Comparison is between "other primates and human".

Relative clause "which are born..." is a modifier". So we are not comparing it.

Hi,

Unlike other primates,......., must be followed by an entity that could be compared to primates
consists of eight bones that take years to fuse together fully, allowing the brain to grow much larger during those early years.

Only B & D have a comparable entity, newborn human babies and a human respectively.

B. fully formed craniums, newborn human babies have craniums that: Although the use of newborn babies (plural) makes it look good, use of craniums gives it away since the verb,consists, that follows is in non underlined portion & is singular.

D. fully formed craniums, a human is born with a cranium that: Correct.

The options prompts to make quick choices among different entities. So it's a must to understand what entities are really compared.

Meaning
The primates which are born with craniums is compared eith humans which see born with different premature craniums.
The comparing entities are primates and human

Primates are compared with newborn human baby's cranium

hello,
in option D ...primates is plural but a human is singular.... isn't it wrong....only singular nouns are compared with singular nouns??

B. fully formed craniums, newborn human babies have craniums that -- "newborn" and "babies' redundant.
