What is wrong with below logic:
1/4 of 100% = 25
1/4 of 10%. = 2.5
1/4 of 1%. = 0.25
1/4 of 0.1%. = 0.025
1/4 of 0.01%. = 0.0025 which is option C.
I am bit confused if percent plays a role in moving the digit further by 2 decimals? Which gives result option 0.000025 (Option-A)
praveenbaranwal , yes, you are a little mixed up about percent here.
Percent means "per 100" --
which means divide by 100 --
move the decimal two places to the
left (add zeros).
1/4 of 100% = 25 (incorrect)
Percent is used oddly here.
But 1/4 of 100%?
(1/4 * 100/100)=100/400=1/4=.25
1/4 of 100 percent is 25 PERCENT
1/4 of 100=(1/4*100)=(100/4) = 25
25% of 100 =(25/100 * 100) = 25
.25 of 100 = 25
\(\frac{1}{4} = .25\), and
.25 is the decimal expression for 25%
I think you've just gotten mixed up.
.01 PERCENT = \(\frac{.01}{100}\)
We don't want decimals in the numerator. We multiply by 100/100 to get rid of the decimal
So that fraction becomes
\(\frac{1}{10000}\), which = .00001
1/4 = .25
(0.25)*(0.00001) = .000025
As I said, I think you've just gotten mixed up. It happens. No big deal. The two links below will get you sorted out.
PERCENTSFractions, Decimals, and PercentsHope that helps.
