If  s<0  and  r<0 , what is the value of  r ?

(1)  (−r)^2=4

(2)  s^r=1

If s<0 and r<0, what is the value of r?

(1) (−r)^2=4
=> r^2 = 4 or r =2 or -2
bur r < 0
so, r = -2
Sufficient

(2) s^r=1
This is true only when, s=-1 and r =-2
Sufficient

The second statement answer is incorrect. In this statement since s and r cannot be 0 nor 1, s will always be -1. But this does not give us the value for r. 
Only information we can deduce about r is that it should be even. Hence insufficient. 
Answer is option A.

i dont even think this can be a real gmat question since gmat does not give false values for the choices right? (2) cannot ever be true given the conditions right

s^r = 1, for s < 0 and r < 0, holds true if s = -1 and r = -2, -4, -6, -8, and so on.
