Hi ChandlerBong,

If 16 is divisible by a+1, then shouldn't a+1 be less than or equal to 16? I think you took the calculation the other way around.
Let me know if I'm missing anything

Hi Maheshkv,

16 is divisible by (a+1),

so the least value of a+1 here can be "16" if chosen as 15.

all the other values of (a+1) will be greater than 16.

Hence we can take multiple values of a and see that in one case it's divisible by 105 and in another it isn't divisible.

Hope it helps. :)

Hi again,

16/(a+1) = 0 so here the point i am driving is that the greatest value of a+1 would be 16. The possible values of a+1 are 2,4,8,16 (as a is positive integer).

I have seen you mentioned reasoning based on (a+1) % 16 which should a+1 divisible by 16 right? Just wanted to be clear here with the wording.

Hi Again,

My bad, you're right. If 16 is divisible by (a+1) then a can be 1,3,7 and 15.

So we get statement 2 as sufficient as all of these values are divisible by 105.

Thanks for the correction. :)
