Which of the following is a possible value of k + a + z ?

1. 148
2. 150
3. 151

a) 1 and 2
b) 2 and 3
c) 1 and 3
d) 3 only
e) 1, 2 and 3

Since division by k gives remainder 13, k >= 14
Since division by a gives remainder 34, a >= 35
Since division by z gives remainder 101, z >= 102

So k + a + z >= 14 + 35 + 102

k + a + z >= 151

So of the given values, only 151 satisfies this condition.

Re: When a positive integer "l" is divided by a positive integer "k", the [#permalink]
Given:
1. When a positive integer "l" is divided by a positive integer "k", the remainder is 13.
2. When the positive integer "r" is divided by a positive integer "a", the remainder is 34 and finally when the positive integer "g" is divided by "z", the remainder is 101.

Asked: Which of the following is a possible value of k + a + z ?

When a positive integer "l" is divided by a positive integer "k", the remainder is 13. ; k>13
When the positive integer "r" is divided by a positive integer "a", the remainder is 34; a> 34
when the positive integer "g" is divided by "z", the remainder is 101. ; z>101

Minimum value of k + a + z = 14 + 35 + 102 = 151

1. 148
2. 150
3. 151
