A toy is in the form of a right circular cone .The base of the cone is placed perfectly on the base of the hemisphere. If the height of the cone is twice the radius of the cone and the sum of the height of the toy and the hemisphere is 15 centimeters, what is the volume of the hemisphere in cubic centimeters? (The volume of a sphere is 4/3πr^3, where r is the radius)

A. 100π/3
B. 125π/3
C. 250π/3
D. 500π/3
E. Cannot be determined

The only tricky part of this question is reading it correctly.

The toy is only the cone and not Cone + Hemisphere.

Let the radius of the hemisphere be r.

Hence height of toy ie. cone = 2r (Given)

Height of toy + Height of hemisphere = 15 cm
2r + r = 15
3r = 5
r = 5cm

Now vol of hemisphere is 2/3*pi*r^3

Vol of hemisphere is 2/3*pi*5^3

=250*pi/3
