hey guys

anyone waitlisted from Early Decision received the final decision yet?

I got waitlisted in mid-Ocb and since then I have been trying to improve my application.

I visited the school (travelling from Brazil), spoke to several current students, attended a class, got two side letters (a current student who went to college with me and a former student that work in the same place that I work now)...I expect to get a VIP side letter after 20jan, but I'm a little afraid to receive a negative answer before that...Do they wait uuntil last day to release negative decisions for waitlisteds?

Any thoughts?

Hey - did you make sure school is aware that you spoke to several current students?

Is applying to CBS in January (around other R2 deadlines) the equivalent of applying R3 elsewhere?

It's definitely not ideal. A lot of/most of the class will likely be full already due to their rolling admissions, and they tend to see through/get rightly offended by people putting them last after all the other deadlines have past. BUT if you have visited the school and/or made other efforts to really demonstrate your effort in the program, that would help. Best of luck!

Yes! I did...I spoke with the admissions office while in NYC and later, via a thank you note, I shared all my interactions with cbs students

I applied within the January 3, 2020 deadline.

What is the tentative interview timeline for international students?
I am planning to take a small trip in February (4 days) - trying to avoid a clash.

How does the interview process look like for international students (located in India)?

Why’d you think it was a long shot? Stats wise, you look competitive.

Is anyone who submitted before 12/29 still waiting on a notification?

From self reported data (mostly on ClearAdmit), CBS is going through these apps with a machete, katana, and weed whacker. Folks are getting absolutely annihilated out here. It's a sea of red on ClearAdmit across applicants with really good stats, which is terrifying for a medium applicant like me.

The optimist in me thinks they're saving most of the invitations to go out in ebbs and flows, and the fact that I haven't heard yet is a good thing.
The realist in me knows that they're going in order, it doesn't look good out there, and they just haven't gotten to my app yet in the queue.

I submitted January 3rd. I’ll let you know if I hear anything. It looks like Columbia makes a decision about 1 month after a person submits his/her app.

I also submitted the 3rd so we'll have to see. They're better about being in chronological order than some other schools that are rolling a this stage so the idea that we haven't been reviewed yet is pretty solid.

After a person receives an interview invite, within how many days must that person complete an interview?

Submitted on the 3rd too, and haven't heard anything yet, so it seems like they haven't got there yet.

They might be reviewing people who submitted on the last week of Dec. I think most of applicants submitted between Christmas and the Jan 3rd deadline, so it's safe to assume the progress is slower for this period.

Anyway, good luck to everyone out there!

Based on my circle of friends / what I saw (reading through comments) on ClearAdmit, they move in chronological order. Typically 3-4 weeks after submitting. Good luck.
