Columbia EMBA Extends Deadlines: Sat-Only 3/6! and Fr/Sat 6/5/24!

Many potential candidates for Columbia Business School’s Executive MBA program are surprised to learn that the school has extended its Saturday-only NY EMBA program deadline from February 8, 2024, to March 6, 2024. It has also recently extended its final deadline for the Friday-Saturday NY EMBA program from May 22, 2024, to June 5, 2024.

For those of you who want to try to make a dream of attending Columbia come true soon, you now have a longer window to bring that dream to reality!

Your application process can be eased if you qualify for and secure a standardized test waiver, which Columbia Business School now offers when a candidate requests a waiver and the school believes the candidate possesses solid quantitative skills already. This is a notable change from the past when all applicants had to submit a standardized test score – the GMAT, Executive Assessment, or GRE.

Why do you they think they keep extending? Not enough applicants?

Hi,

Last year, Columbia extended the EMBA deadlines also.  I believe they are trying to get the timing down better to make sure they don't miss out on great applicants, as other deadlines affect them. For example, this year on Feb 22 some candidates will learn they did not land a Wharton EMBA interview, so that is a pool of candidates that may turn their sights to CBS and MIT. The new 3/8 deadline allows that pool to apply to CBS. 

Candidates should not wait too close to the end to apply because the extensions do get prospective candidates excited and CBS tends to get a boost in applicants when they extend deadlines, such that in the final days prior to the end deadline, all spots are full.

What is the typical timeframe for receiving an invitation to interview or being denied after submitting an application?­

I'm going on a month and haven't heard anything yet.

Hi,
I am very sorry to hear that you have not heard anything from the Admissions Committee yet.  Most of my candidates are notified that they have an interview within one week of applying to the Columbia EMBA Program, and often they hear that they have an admission within one to three days after the interview. The process can be very, very fast. So, it seems unusual that you have had such a long wait. You might reach out to the school and politely ask when you might expect to hear a response.
