Indian male, 24. Business degree from a top-tier Indian undergrad (8.5 CGPA). 3 years in strategy consulting (joined at 20, early promotion), followed by a high-ownership generalist role at a leading consumer tech firm. Currently building a new vertical in IT asset lifecycle & e-waste within my family’s systems integration business. Also have early-stage investing experience (10+ deals), strong extracurriculars (student founder, theatre lead, society president). Post-MBA goal: scale our firm into India’s most trusted IT lifecycle company, with global experience in tech ops/sustainability first.

I suspect you have misquoted the post-MBA industry as tech instead of entrepreneurship. Watch out for such things in your applications.
If entrepreneurship is indeed your genuine goal immediately post-MBA, then why not focus on those schools that will actually build your skills in this domain? Lack of international experience may impact your application at both stated schools.

Hi @brooklynbaby,

You have a solid, multidimensional profile that blends high-impact consulting experience, entrepreneurial drive, and a clearly defined post-MBA vision. Starting your consulting career at 20 with an early promotion demonstrates exceptional maturity and performance. Transitioning to a generalist role at a leading consumer tech firm adds scale and execution experience, while your current role building a vertical in IT asset lifecycle within your family business directly supports your sustainability-driven post-MBA goals. The added layer of early-stage investing and extracurriculars round out your candidacy.
While your GMAT Focus score of 675 is decent, it's slightly on the lower side for top-tier programs. If possible, I’d encourage you to retake the GMAT and aim to improve your score by 20–30 points to strengthen your application and stay competitive.
Focus your applications on your unique blend of strategy, execution, and purpose-driven entrepreneurship. To maximize your chances, consider applying to a balanced mix of reach, target, and safety schools.

Thanks for sharing your profile, @brooklynbaby! Starting with your strengths. Early career start & promotions, beginning consulting at 20 and progressing fast, show exceptional maturity. Diverse experience: Strategy consulting + corporate generalist role + family business + angel investing = good blend. Clear focus on scaling a real, operating business, not just a vague startup idea. Exposure to business strategy, operations, sustainability, and deal-making.

Leadership: Society president, theatre lead, student startup founder, good non-academic credentials.

Your 675 GMAT Focus Score could hurt you in a competitive applicant pool like Indian males. Are you planning to retake the exam, aiming for 20+ points? Indian males in consulting, schools see a lot of this. Your entrepreneurial story and investing background must shine through to break out of the mold.

For INSEAD: Highlight family business strategy, global scaling plan, and sustainability goals. GMAT improvement or exceptional essays can lift your chances.

For LBS: Your investing + business-building experience will appeal to their entrepreneurial community.

Should you retake the GMAT Focus? You don’t have to, but a 20+ points can improve your odds. If not, focus all efforts on outstanding essays, clarity of goals, and impactful storytelling. You can also explore other schools like Cambridge Judge, IESE, HAAS, and RSM.

Some questions to help refine your application:
1. What specific global exposure are you seeking from INSEAD/LBS? (tie to your family business scale-up vision)
2. Can you quantify your impact in the consulting and tech roles, especially bottom-line or operational savings?
3. What distinctive personal values do you bring to a business school community?
4. Are you prepared to explain how you’ll scale a family business with structured, MBA-level frameworks?

We’d love to learn more about your international experiences, professional experience, and personal journey so we can offer a more tailored assessment of your profile and evaluate your chances at your target schools more accurately. If you'd like, feel free to book a profile evaluation session.

Hi
Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, your profile looks impressive with clear post-MBA vision. Starting in consulting at 20 with a promotion, pivoting into tech, and now shaping a vertical in e-waste management, your trajectory demonstrates both initiative and adaptability. You also bring layered experiences: from advising clients to executing at scale and now building from scratch.

Adcoms at your target schools will appreciate your breadth of exposure across industries and functions, and your mature entrepreneurial motivation for the MBA, especially given your current involvement in a family-led tech sustainability initiative. Your GMAT score also looks solid. Highlighting people leadership and measurable business outcomes will help further strengthen impact. Think about shaping a narrative that connects your consulting + tech + entrepreneurial pivots to your long-term ESG-driven ambition

Hi, this is a young but rounded profile.

Three years in strategy consulting with early promotion plus high-ownership tech experience and family business exposure create a solid foundation. The 675 GMAT Focus is below LBS/INSEAD medians; a retake to ~705+ would help a lot. Your IT lifecycle and sustainability vertical build is a strong post-MBA story and aligns well with INSEAD and LBS given the global tech/ops focus.

The early-stage investing and strong ECs add dimension. At 24, highlight leadership maturity and ability to scale impact despite age.

With a stronger GMAT and sharp execution, this could be competitive for both LBS and INSEAD.
