I think the answer should be B, i.e. Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient.

Statement 1 - x>y, no any other details therefore NOT SUFFICIENT.
Statement 2 - x=(1/y), on simply putting the value of x in the question it will cancel out "y" and the answer will be 1. Therefore SUFFICIENT.

hi..
xy=1?

1) x>y
x=2 and y = $$\frac{1}{2}$$ ans is YES
x =2 and y =1 , ans is NO
insuff

2) x=1/y
so y is RECIPROCAL of x ..
product of a number and its reciprocal is always 1...
substitute x = 1/y in xy so $$xy = \frac{1}{y}*y=1$$
