Fresh dates contain 90% water while dry dates contain 28% water . How many kg of dry dates can be obtained from 36kg of fresh dates ?
A. 5Kg
B. 10Kg
C. 12 Kg
D. 6Kg
We know the mass of the non-water part is the same in the initial and final product, so we can equate them
let the weights of dates be, \(W_i\) and \(W_f\)
and concentrations of non-water part be \(C_i\) and \(C_f\)
since the mass is same,
\(W_i\) * \(C_i\) = \(W_f\)*\(C_f\)
\(W_i\) * 10 = \(W_f\) * 72
\(\frac{W_i}{W_f} = \frac{36}{5}\)
Thus, \(W_f\) = 5 kg
