Is the integer n odd?

(1) n is divisible by 3.
(2) n is divisible by 5.

Problems dealing with number properties can often be solved theoretically, with very few calculations.
This is a Logical approach.

(1) Since 3 is odd and 3 times any even number is even, this is insufficient.

(2) As before, 5 is odd but 5 times an even is even.

Combined.
The LCM is 15 which is odd but 15 times any even number is even.
Still insufficient.

(E) is our answer.

Time needed: 23s

For me, in those kinds of questions, it's faster to guess numbers:

Statement 1:
The number could be 6(even) or 9(odd) -> Not sufficient. Remove A and D
Statement 2:
The number could be 10(even) or 15(odd) -> Not sufficient. Remove B
Statement 1 and 2 combined:
The number could be 15(odd) or 30(even) -> Not sufficient. Remove C.

Correct answer: E

It is asking if n is in the form of 2x+1

1) n/3 makes n 3,6,9,12,15... multiples of 3
So we don’t get a definitive answer.

2) n/5 makes n be 5,10,15,20... multiples of 5

We don’t get a definitive answer too.

Combined

n/3 = x so n = 3x and n/5 = y so n = 5y

It makes it a multiple of 15

15,30,45,60,75,90 etc..

We also don’t get a definitive answer.

Answer choice E.
