R should be 9 ... so that makes carry as 1 ... unit digit of (3P + 1) is S and we can see 3P + 1 is greater than 9 as hundred section is having carry over of 1 ... then seeing the options only 13 makes sense ... nothing else which makes 3 is the right option

To get a final unit digit of 4:
5 + R must end in 4
The only possible way is:
5 + 9 = 14
So:
R = 9
and we carry 1 to the tens column.
Now look at the hundreds column:
3 + 4 = 7
But the final hundreds digit is 8, so there must also be a carry of 1 from the tens column.
That means:
P + Q + 1 must create a carry.
Given:
Q = 2P
So:
P + Q = 3P
Now test possible values of P:
If P = 1 → 3P + 1 = 4
If P = 2 → 7
If P = 3 → 10
If P = 4 → 13
We need the tens digit S.
For P = 4:
P + Q + 1 = 4 + 8 + 1 = 13
So the tens digit becomes:
S = 3
Answer: (A)
