Derek Bolton came to NYC for an info session and mentioned he was hitting up some other cities as well.. I don't think its that rare to meet. Don't think it holds any weight though. No chance he or anyone is able to remember a positive interaction.
Hi MBAAlex120, what industry are you in? I am assuming consulting?
I am in advisory consulting at a big 4 firm. Don't think it has much to do with when invites go out...... Side note got paired with my interviewer on Friday, and they say it has to be completed within 10 days. I am wondering if the interview results from the people who were invited early affect the amount of invites who go out later

pretty crazy at how silent it is....

does anyone actually know how they release their decisions? in batches, individually, geographically, by industry, etc. - or is it mostly speculation?

well some say it's by industry, consulting leading the way, but then some think it might be mixed. i just have no idea at the minute. it might even be how the adcom are feelin'...if they've seen enough consultants and want to spice up their day, they might dip into us too :p

it is approaching 8am palo time...25% through the interview invite period...hope they move to other industries soon!!
as for batches etc, i think it ranges during the day, some reported receiving at 8am, some at 9pm, all in palo time. so it seems they release the valve per candidate as they individually change one's status, it might just release an invite...

it's probably random... although i do think that one adcom person owns a specific industry when reviewing apps... so maybe there is some relation. no use in thinking about this though if no one has actually heard it from someone in admissions

yeah i read that the computer divides the apps up among the 'industry experts' who then slice and dice according to diverse criteria....but then we would have a range of invites for a range of industries 25% of the way in ... and we only seem to be getting consulting invites. which is confusing. oh well. 10mins to 8am!

I think it's super nice that Illuminator is active here and being helpful. I know a couple people that got the invites (all consultant) but being low key and do not want to share publicly. It's good to have the group here so we are not alone in not hearing back!!!

There has been no rhyme nor reason that I can make out after working with clients applying to GSB since 2009. Remember that what we're seeing here on this site is an incredibly, incredibly small sample size of total applicants. My clients (who have been across all industries and countries) always seemed to get invited near the END of the stated invite range (with one on the very last day... and she ultimately got in), so I do think there's still a while to go before we see a lot more activity.

Sorry, I know that's probably not what people wanted to hear!

GOOD LUCK!

I guess we should take solace from this trend and calm down a bit :)

Got an invite yesterday (at roughly 10am PST).

I know a lot of people have been waiting to hear if there were any invites out to non-consulting/non-Americas, so both apply to me.. (EMEA, Tech)

Good luck everyone!
