I visited before. Are you thinking of going?

The email made it sound like people are sending in a bunch of updates. I thought that was something HBS didnt look too kindly upon. What is your take guys? Have you personally sent anything?

Visited before and did the interview on campus - they seemed to make it pretty clear the act of visiting and isn't really a factor for getting off WL (I tend to believe them on this - it would severely disadvantage people who don't have the $ to travel).

Based on reading past years threads, it seemed like a good number of people who got off the WL didn't submit anything else. If there's anything actually worth updating (e.g., retook GMAT and got a higher score, got a real promotion at work) or something pretty "objective" in that sense it may be worth sending that in but I wouldn't lob anything in just because other people are doing it. Good judgment here is important. I think 80% of the wait-list decision will be based on what the composition of the R2 class looks like vs anything specific to your profile.

I also got the impression that people are sending a bunch of updates. I personally do not have anything to update - I am not planning to retake GMAT, still on the same job etc - so won't bother them just for the sake of doing so. Agree with CJH2015 - most of the decision is related to the R2 pool, and other relevant aspect might be the acceptance rate from R1 admits of your pool.

I am planning to visit HBS in the upcoming weeks, more with a perspective of "doing everything I can". I know that the visit by itself will not change any decisions, but it is still good to feel at peace with myself :) my boss was actually proactive in saying that she believes I should go there and visit, so I took advantage of her openess and flexibility!

How to Get Off the MBA Waitlist - YouTube Live by GMAT Club and Personal MBA Coach.

Dear Waitlisted Applicants,
You put a lot of time and effort into your MBA applications and, after months of hard work, you’re…waiting. It’s ok to scream into a pillow or go to town on a punching bag. It’s frustrating! But after you do, sign up for this youtube live session hosted by Scott Edinburgh, Founder of Personal MBA Coach. He'll talk about the process, the stats, do's and don'ts, and what has worked for his clients in the past. He'll wrap everything up with a live Q&A session. You don't want to miss this!

About Scott Edinburgh

A Wharton MBA graduate with a BS from MIT, Scott has been an MBA admissions consultant for eight years and has helped hundreds of applicants around the world get into top MBA programs. Besides perfecting the MBA admissions process and making dreams come true for applicants from Tokyo to San Francisco and everywhere in between, he has also worked across consulting, financial services and strategy & corporate development roles before becoming a Full-Time admissions consultant. He ran Global Strategy / Corporate Development as a Director of a 700 person leading independent publishing company. He also worked for InterContinental Hotels Group in Global Strategy, as well as JP Morgan and Deloitte Consulting in Mergers & Acquisitions. His experience in many of the jobs applicants have today or hope to obtain post-MBA helps him advise them on the best ways to not only get into their top choice schools, but position themselves for their dream jobs.

As an individual MBA admissions consultant, he takes the time to get to know every client personally as they go through the journey together. This starts with a deep analysis into applicant's background, an identification of his/her objectives and a thorough development of personal story. His no BS approach ensures that nothing falls through the cracks and his feedback is honest, non-sugar coated and immediate. He push his clients very hard and the work pays off. 96% of his clients got into one of their top two or three schools. Think we'll get an email update right around 3PM today. Based on last year's email, the email this year will tell us:

a) How many they plan to accept (likely a range)
b) How many they plan to release
c) When and how they'll start the notification (likely rolling - admits get a call, releases get an update on the email portal).

No one really knows so it's all guess-work... but what's being bandied around is ~100 - 150 although I'd say that's closer to ~100 - 125. Can't really do it on the math alone because they're going to look at it by bucket (nationality / ethnicity, profession, region, etc.). The retail WL'er is not competing against the guy in investment banking.

Good luck everyone... Hoping we get an update and a call soon. I'm sure we've all imagined the moment in our heads millions of times, I can't begin to fathom how amazing that moment would be.

That being said, trying to temper my expectations after the disappointment on Dec 14th after what I thought was a great interview.

My hope is that round 1 wait list has fairly decent odds when compared to later rounds.

Good luck to everyone, trust the process and continue to believe!

So based on the e-mail we've just received, next week there will be 30-40 of us that will be released, plus 20-30 that will receive an offer!

Finger crossed!
And if you hear anything from them, please share your story ;)

Hang in there and good luck, everyone!

The transparency in the process this year is very nice and definitely considerate of the admissions board...

Unfortunately, it does add to the suspense and makes the comparison with last year's waitlist process a little tricky! One thing I can infer, however, is that it appears as through they go through admit/release decisions industry by industry throughout the week..
