Re: Columbia 2012 - Calling All Applicants [#permalink]
Planning on finally clicking submit on 9/12. I am attending the diversity even next weekend and they're supposed to give some application tips I may want to take into consideration. Will post if anything of interest is mentioned. Any one else attending that? It was moved from last weekend due to the Hurricane. I was planning on submitting mid august but the recommendations took much longer to get then I anticipated. Now I want to look everything over and wait till after the event to apply.

9/12 is not too late to apply to ED right? i know the deadline is about a month away but Im just worried too many of ED spots may be already taken...

I will be at the diversity event next weekend. I'm pretty excited about it. I'm apply RD though.

How did everyone fill out the Extracurricular Section of the application? In other words, they seem to be asking for just dates, activity and position (e.g., xx/20xx - Current, Activity, Position). Is this the format everyone used or did you add color to it?

Can not find a form/section for essays in the application system.
It is really strange))
Does anybody have the same problem?

Yes, but for the "activity" aspect, I personally added color into what I actually did and the impact of my position. With the character count, you should be able to mention your 1-3 extracurricular actives and provide some additional details and color into each role.

Yes. Its a bit different than before. I think in the first section when you choose what program you are applying to, then the essays section pops out. I had a hard time finding it too.

I used the maximum characters they allowed to explain my top three ECs. The format I used for each was:

Name, Position: Brief Description (Dates)

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I just started my application:( want to know what kind photo do you guys upload in the CBS online app system? I mean, do they want to see the formal ones, or casual ones? Thank you.

I went with a semi/business casual-like shot. To be safe, I'd go with more formal rather than less.

Well, it always helps to have a good application :)

I wouldn't call it a "perfect" application, but it needs to be a "perfect" representation of your personality, achievements and what you can contribute to the school. Just my $0.02 anyway.
