My interviewer told they're given up to 2 weeks but are asked to try get it in within 2-3 days of the interview. Given that and knowing how important this is to you, it seems rather rude of him/her.

I agree! My interviewer went out of her way to tell me that she'd complete the report within 2 days. I realize that most of these alum are super busy and that things unexpectedly come up. I just hope that this delay is not due to me leaving a bad impression. (I'm not exactly ecstatic about how my interview went)

I would think that if I made a great impression they'd be anxious to submit their report, while making a mediocre impression might result in the opposite.

However your interview went, the professional thing to do would have been to submit the report on time.

On the other hand, it might be a simple case of tech failure when he was submitting the report. Never know until you check. Hope its nothing worse than that!

While we can't be certain of why it's not complete... I would be reluctant to say it's due to the interviewer. When I had my interview on a Friday morning... the person who interviewed me is retired and teaches as an adjunct now and told me point blank he was recommending me. Given that, I figure he most likely submitted that day, however, my status didn't go complete for five days following... coincidently, others who had interviewed same timeframe went complete on the same day. It appears that there may just be a lag in the system or they process it all at once. Not really sure, just an FYI.

Hi all, my application went under review on 08/10. I noticed on this forum that some of you, whose applications went under review at a later point of time have already received interview invitations.

What I am curious about is if the adcom wants to reject me without an invitation for interview, do they usually reject it within a 1-2 weeks or do they wait for 2-3 months to reject me without an invite for interview? I understand that my case may be different but I just want to know how it generally works.

Also, when I spoke to an admissions representative, she said that every application goes through multiple reviews and that anyone can trigger an invite for interview. This is what makes me suspicious that the longer it takes to get an invite, the more likely it is that I will be rejected.

For all of you that are fretting over the timeliness of your interviews, decisions, etc.. I wouldn't worry too much. I received an interview invite relatively early, scheduled an interview that week, interview went perfect... and 2 days later I was rejected. So maybe the delays are good!

If you read on Columbia's site... it says the timeline for when you interview is not relevant to your acceptance. You go through at least two reviewers and can be invited to interview anytime during the process. If you are still waiting it can be due to the second review not taking place. There is no correlation to timeline to interview and acceptance as mentioned by mba and on CBS site.

Thank you losttraveler, for the information. Based on your comments, does it mean that the rejection (without an invite for interview) happens ONLY after all the reviews are done? If that is the case, it looks to me like the rejection will take a lot longer than an invite for interview.....

I guess at the moment, I am just looking for the worst-case scenario of rejection unless I quickly get an invite. At least this way, I get to focus completely on the rest of the schools' applications.

Got an interview invite for ED today. But I'm already planning to attend INSEAD from Jan'12.
If I decline the invite, would that be against the CBS Statement of Commitment? I hope that is valid only if you get admitted.

If you're attending INSEAD, you need to turn down interview .. .why waste their time? Regarding the others and questions on interview/application timing... reference below link. This is a Q&A with Mary Miller regarding the application process at CBS.

If you interview and you are admitted, you will be reneging on the statement of commitment when you tell them you are going to INSEAD. As losttraveler correctly said, if you have decided to attend INSEAD, you should decline the invite to interview. At this point, you are not committed to attend Columbia.

That's a good sign... most likely they want to discuss something specific or ask you a question.... normally if you aren't dinged and you get a call... it's either an admit or you are pretty high on the admit list. Goodluck!

He's a J-Termer for those who are wondering... I already went back on old posts to make sure I wasn't missing something :P

Wasn't everyone who got that call on last years thread admitted?

Damn losttraveler, you are on the ball.
