Re: The price of martha's meal was $10, and she left a tip that was r perc [#permalink]
Let price of Sam's meal = Sm
Cost of Martha's meal = 10$
Tip given by Martha = 1.5 $
=> (r/100) * 10 = 1.5
=> r = 15%

Tip given by Sam = (s/100)*Sm = 1.5 $

(1) s = 20
We can calculate Sm
Sufficient
(2) s = 4/3r
=> s =( 4/3 ) * 15 = 20 %
Sufficient

The price of martha's meal was $10, and she left a tip that was r percent of the price of her meal. Sam left a tip that was s percent of the price of his meal. If Martha and Sam each left a tip of $1.50, what was the price of Sam's meal?

(1) s = 20

(2) s = 4/3r

Hi tanad and mods, for accuracy purposes, kindly edit (2) as s=(4/3)*r.
It can be misunderstood as 4/(3r).

Thank you! :D

IMO, the mistake that you can make in this question is that you miss out the word each.
