I was just doing the Mahattan yesterday and came across with this sentence.
She is the most dedicated gardener on the block, every day watering the more than 50 plants in her yard.
In daily life, people seemed to omit that "The"highlighted, is that "The" really necessary in this sentence? Thanks for clarification.

GMAT verbal is different in many ways than the day-to-day communication.
Verbal books provide examples for the understanding of concepts,few of them are not readily used either in GMAT or in daily life so , don't shake your budding concept , study more and after once you have built your concept stronger you will be able to analyze things in a better way.
Ex 1: She is the most dedicated gardener on the block, every day watering the more than 50 plants in her yard.
She must have more than 50 plants which are supposed to be more important to be watered.
Ex 2: She is the most dedicated gardener on the block, every day watering more than the 50 plants in her yard.
She is concerned about watering 50 plants but she is expressing that she works even harder and plants more than what is expected.
