Many people seem to be struggling with the time factor and end up guessing the last few questions.
This is not the best way to ace the exam, so thought i'd add a few tips from my experience (although it was quite sometime ago)
Divide the 75 min provided into 3 slots of 25 min each both for Quant and Verbal.
Since GMAT is a computer adaptive test, it makes sense to spend enough time on the first few questions as this is the time when the computer is trying to figure out how smart you might be!! (Much like your first date

)
Lets take the Quant Section first. There are 37 Questions in all. So you can divide it as follows:
Min 1-25 Q 1-11
Min 26-50 Q 12-24
Min 51-75 Q 25-37
Now for the verbal
Min 1-25 Q 1-12
Min 26-50 Q 13-26
Min 51-75 Q 27-41
Why do you need to do this??
- Firstly, it will keep you on track all through your section. Much better to realize that you are slow at 25 or 50 min mark than having to solve 10 Q in last 10 min. With this you now have smaller goals in smaller time frames. This is a lot easier to track
- Secondly, by doing fewer questions in the first lot, you are getting more time per question and hence higher the probability of getting them right.
Hope this helps...
Do try this on a couple of mock tests and see how it helps you preparation.
