Hello everyone,
I am looking for advices to improve my verbal score. I consistently score 33 whatever the practice test i use ( scored Q 37; V 33 on first GMAT attempt) and I retake the GMAT in one month.
I have used 3
MGMAT CATs and if I look at their assessment report it says:
Sentence Correction : (Total answered): 31 (% Right) : 55% (Aver. Difficulty Right Ans.): 710 (Aver. Difficulty Wrong Ans.): 720
Critical Reasoning : (Total answered): 32 (% Right) : 50% (Aver. Difficulty Right Ans.): 640 (Aver. Difficulty Wrong Ans.): 700
Reading Comprehension : (Total answered): 25 (% Right) : 56% (Aver. Difficulty Right Ans.): 680 (Aver. Difficulty Wrong Ans.): 700
It seems my CR is weak, but i have started studying
MGMAT CR guide but I am not thinking it will improve anything. Any suggestion for materials ?
Thanks for your time.
Hi Limpbizkiteur,
Your verbal score is better than your quant score, and there is a lot of scope for improvement in quant for you.
You are scoring around V33, it means that your basic concepts in verbal are more or less clear. What you should do is to find the areas in which you are having difficulty. Moreover, seeing your score it seems that you have almost same accuracy level in SC, RC and CR. Good thing is that there is a good amount of space for improvement. Mastering CR will have a great effect on your performance in RC, especially the inference ones.
MGMAT CR book is an awesome resource book. You first develop sound basics by going through the
MGMAT guide and reviewing the exercises at the end of each chapter. Study the concepts, do easy questions, figure out what concept a question is testing and what is wrong in all the incorrect answer choices. Do not worry about the time that you are taking while solving questions when you are solidifying the concepts. Even if you take 10 - 15 for a single question, go for it. Then spend double that time in analyzing the solutions. Do this until you feel comfortable with the area. For quant also I will suggest you the same approach; I think you might improve more in quant. And during all this process do not neglect OG, make sure that you have not only solved every question but also analyzed its solution and understand the exact testing point. Moreover, in the last week or two go through the GMAT Prep tests and and analyze the questions that you got incorrect. If possible take multiple attempts on the GMAT Prep tests before your actual GMAT.
With 70 percentile score in each, at Q45, V35 you will get a score of around 650 (around 80 percentile). The more the better. All the best!!!
Hope that helps,
Vercules
